Gresser, pastor of the Roman Catholic Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Jamaica, died suddenly yesterday in the rectory of the church, 88-21 Parsons Boulevard. He was 70. A native of Manhattan, son of the late Queens Borough President Lawrence Gresser, Mons. Gresser had been the pastor of several Brooklyn churches. His first assignment was at St.

Peter's Church and in 1914 he became pastor of the Church of the Holy Family. Mons. Gresser was educated at St. John's High School and College in Brooklyn and at Niagara University. He studied for the priesthood in St.

John's Seminary in Charles E. Miller, Ex-Newspaperman Charles E. Miller, a former resident of Brooklyn for years, died of a heart attack Saturday at Salt Point, N. where he owned Trails End Farm. He was in the newspaper and advertising business until his retirement in 1932.

Mr. Miller was a reporter on newspapers in Hartford, Boston, Schenectady and other cities before he founded the Charles, E. Miller Publishers Representatives, which was located in the Times Building in Manhattan. He is survived by his widow, Estelle Young Miller; two daughters, Mrs. Macom Summit and Mrs.

Dora Herwig, and a granddaughter, Ursula Summit. Services were held last night in Pleasant Valley, N. Y. Burial will be at Bloomfield, today. Abbate, Peter Lacerra, Allen, Edith Annunziata Andrews, Edith Lazansky, Rose Bartlett, George Mahlstedt.

Psychiatrist Was Former Official At Islip Hospital Brightwaters, March 11-Dr. Frank Hinkley, psychiatrist at the Central Islip State Hospital for 37 years and a former assistant superintendent of the institution, died yesterday at his home here. He was 66. Dr. Hinkley, who retired as assistant superintendent in 1938.

was born in Greenville, N. the son of Cyrus and Jane Kendall Hinkley, both of Revolutionary War ancestry. His father's ancestors received a Federal land grant in Greene County, site of the Hinkley School. Following his studies at the Greenville Academy and Starkey Seminary, Dr. Hinkley was ated a from Union Medical College in Albany in 1898 and after several years devoted to private practice became a member of the staff of the Brooklyn State Hospital.

In 1904 he was transferred to the Central Islip institution. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary H. Long Hinkley, George W. Latus George W.

Latus, an accountant for the retirement system of the Guaranty Trust Company of New York and an associate of that company and its former affiliate, Guaranty Company of New York, for more than 23 years, died today at Midtown Hospital. His home was in Paterson, N. J. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Agnes McCourt Latus, a son, Wilbur and a daughter, Catherine C.

In 1906 he began a -year pastorate in the 14th Street Presbyterian Church in Manhattan, and in 1910 became associate pastor of the Greenwich ough. From 1915 he was Presbyterian Church, in that borpastor of the Puritan Church in Brooklyn. After a short period as associate minister of the Tompkins Avenue Church, Dr. Merriam went to the Calvinistic Congregational Church in Fitchburg, for three years. In 1821 he became pastor of the First Congregational Church in Buffalo, and 1932 went to Homer, N.

as pastor of its Congregational Curch. He had retired because of illness. He was the author of "Abiding Easter Message" and "One Hundred Years of Congregationalism in the Empire State." He received his D. D. degree from Yankton College in 1928.

Societies in Brooklyn and Manhattan and of St. Hugh's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Frances DeMarmes Lobasso; five sons, Jerry, Nicholas, Frank, Anthony and Joseph Lobasso; a daughter, Margaret, and five grandchildren. Burial will be in Pinelawn Cemetery.

Huling, Writer and Editor Was Daughter of Noted Long Island Journalist Miss Caroline Alden Huling. newspaperwoman and novelist and the granddaughter of Alden Spooner, who as editor of the Long Island Star was a dominant figure in Brooklyn journalism during the early 19th century, died yesterday at Maywood, it was learned here today. She was 84. A native of Saratoga Springs. N.

she was the daughter of Edmund James and Anna Rebecca Spooner Huling, and her Mayflower ancestors included John Alden, Francis Cooke and Richard Warren. As a young woman she was Associated with her father in editorial work on the Saratoga Sentinel and assisted him AS Associated Press representative at Saratoga Springs. She was active in the woman's suffrage movement and was the first woman in the State of New York to be appointed a notary public. From 1904 until 1911 she was editor, owner and publisher of the Bookseller. From 1920 0 to 1922 she was editor of Social Progress.

She was the author of the novel "The Courage of Her Convictions," and of a Business Woman to Her Niece." She is survived by many. nieces and nephews, among them Mrs. Emmett J. Woodworth of Brooklyn, John H. Finley of Passaic, N.

Donovan, director of the Division of Families of New York Catholic Charities will offer a requiem mass tomorrow in St. Mary Queen of Heaven R. C. Church, for Miss Anna V. Quinlan, a member of the staff of Catholic Charities, WO died on Sunday in the Kingsway Hospital.

A native of Manhattan, Miss Quinlan had been a Catholic welfare worker for 30 years, having started in 1911 as a probation worker in General Sessions Court, Manhattan. She WAS caseworker in the Division of Families for six years, and since 1929 had been chief receptionist for both the Catholic Charities and the Chancery office of the New York Archdiocese. No immediate relatives survive. Average Family Ate Loaf of Bread a Day in '40 Washington, March 11 (U.P) -The average American family ate slightly less than a loaf of bread a day during 1940, the Census Bureaureported today. The 17,303 commercial bakeries in the United States turned out 10.480.950,293 pounds of baked goods during the year, 7,000,000 pounds of which was white bread.

A. Pomonok Country Club and of the Columbia Hose of the Company, Exempt Association of Hollis.
