Smith leave this evening for St. Louis, where they go to give Cleveland a boost Miss Eunice Clark, who has been visit ing E. F. Duer and family, left for her home in Ohio via Kansas City aud other points. J.

Thompson has returned from Kansas City. While there he purchased two barrels of apples that cost him $23. They are very fine. Misses Cora and Clara Thompson and Conductor Woolheater and wife and Engineer Hays and wife have all gone to Galveston on a few days' pleasure trip. Ike Harkleroad, O.

S. Gibson and John Irons, all of Silverdale township, leave for St Louis to-day where they go to attend the democratic national convention. They are Cleveland men. Dr. J.

P. Sankey and wife did not get away Thursday evening, but remained, and yesterday they and Dr. White and wife visited Geuda Springs. Dr. Sankey and wife left last evening.

Hubert Ferguson was over from Maple City yesterday. He informs us that the school house which was blown down in the recent storm is being rebuilt The frame was raised yesterday. Rev. Hoffman suggests the novel idea of organizing a polo club for Lake Juanita, at Ueuda Springs. He says let each player be mounted on a kind of a wooden horse which floats on the water. This Is something new, and besides would be fine sport. The race coarse of the driving park as sociation is completed and the public is in vited to go down and take a drive upon it. Everyone is requested to keep off in wet weather.

We are informed that this is as fine a track as there is in the state. Yesterday afternoon one of the street car drivers when he arrived at Fifth avenue on Summit street, was takeji with an attack of tramps. For a time it was thought he would die. but after an hour of suffer ing he commenced to recover. L. Phillips, of Greenwich, Sedgwick county, celebrated Wednes day, the seventieth anniversary of their marriage, Mr. Phillips is D9 years old and his wife is two months younger. They have twelve children, the oldest of wheiu is 69 years of age. This is a very fair start for a state that is just beginning to turn its attention to the production of centena rians.

Thursday evening George Smothers and family (colored) came in from West Bolton township to attend the concert given by the colored quartette. On the way his little girl had the misforturne to fall from the wagon and the wheel passed over her bowels. It was thought at first she was badly injured but at last report she was cettinc along all right. Dr. Sparks was called in to attend her.

The Wichita Exposition will have their inaugural race meeting June 5th to Oth in cluiivo. They have a large number of entries for their race meeting already made. A trades' display and street parade composed of civie and military organiza tions, forming a grand carnival and parade in honor of the eighteenth birth year of the city of Wichita, will be made on the morning of June 7th. Excursionists from all parts of the state will be in attendance. Kailroad rates will be one faro round trip.
