Writers Honor Author With Fund inspired by' the pumpkin patches of Half Moon Bay, "Sing Sailor. Sing," a. 'story in verse of King Henry of Portugal, who ruled in thedays of dragons, will.be published by Golden Gate Books. Dori White's short story, "Woman's. which ap peared in the August Redbook, will be reprinted in England and Norway.

Mabel' Watts, prolific writer' of juveniles, has sold two books to. Parent's Press. The narrow escapes of "Solomon Smart" was published October 1. "The Story of Zachary Zween" is due for publication in the fall of 1967. "I'm for You and You're for Me" will appear under the imprint of Abelard, Sen urn an, Limited.

Mrs. Watts, has also sold a story, "Who Was' the Silliest?" to Instructor, which is slated for publication in the January 1967 issue. A' fund has been established by the Burlingame Library in memory of the author of "Mama's Bank Account" upon which the play and the movie, "I Remember Mama" based. The Kathryn Forbes McLean Memorial Fund will be used for improvements to the library which she frequented during her 36 year residence in Burlingame. McLean died last May in San Francisco after a long illness.

Mrs. McLean, who wrote under the name of Kathryn Forbes, was a native of San Francisco, where she' attended school. In 1930 she moved to Burlingame where she became a member of a creative writing group. She was the first of the group to enjoy success. With the publication of her first book, "Mama's Bank Account 1 in 1943 she was swept into international prominence.

She also wrote "Transfer Point." The fund has been established at the request of her writer friends. Contributions may be sent to the Burlingame Library, Primrose Road, Burlingame. Members of Burlingame writers have chalked up a number of recent sales. Patricia Miles Martin will have four new books on the market this fall. "Teacher's Pet," an Atlantic Littlebrown publication and a Junior Literary Guild selection, will appear under the name of Miska Miles.

Card Party Is Set by Lodge Elmwood Rebekah Lodge of San Mateo is having a card party to sponsor a cake a monlh for one of the. chi! dren's wards at the rehabilitation center at Agnew. The party will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Daher, 610 South Delaware, at 8 p.m.

on Friday. All Rebekahs and their husbands have been invited to attend. Proceeds will go to this worthwhile project. Officers of Elmwood Lodge will assist Mrs. Daher with her hostess duties.

Second Birthday Is Celebrated' By Bethel 348 Bethel 348, Pacifica International Order of Job's Daughters, is celebrating its second birthday this, month. The Bethel was instituted on October 11, 1964, at Oceana High School. Drama Is Featured By WSCS "A Minor Miracle," a drama in miniature, concerning inter racial groups, and pertinent happenings in today's will be presented to the Women's Society of Christian Service, First Methodist Church, Burlingame, Howard and EI Camino Real, on November 2. The program will follow a noon luncheon. Members of the cast are Mesdames: E. Dale Witt, Leo Melcher, William F. McCrary, John Buckham, Herbert Van Meter, Albert Giovannoni, G.

William 'Thomson, Martha Bur rill, Mary Boutte and Martha Jordan. All participants are members of the "Circle of Con cern." Mrs. DeWayne Moore has made all program arrangements. Hostesses for the luncheon are members of the Riddeil Circle whose chairman is Mrs. Harlan Fowler.

This circle was named to honor Patricia Riddeil, a missionary in Lima, Peru, who is working to improve conditions for the impro verished children of that area. A program of music will be introduced by Mrs. Hugh Mitz er. The recorder section of the San Bruno branch of AAUW will play selections of baroque and classical music from Gavotte, F. J.

Gossec and a folk song. "The Spinning Wheel." The recorder, a unique flute of wood is a sixteenth century instrument, and can produce notes of soprano, alto, tenor or bass.
