That promise was the gallant message sent by Babe Zaharias to her legion of fans today, and it was plain to see that the courageous woman is grimly determined' to do exactly that by scoring a complete and final victory over her illness.

The ailing Babe had a day at the ball game yesterday, watching the New York Yankees beat the Cincinnati Red-legs, 5-3, in an exhibition game and having the time of my life chatting with player of both teams. Casey Stengel, Yankee manager, paid a special visit to the Babe home here early yesterday to invite her to the game, and he and Redlegs skipper Birdie Tebbett did their best to make sure she met all the players and had a fine afternoon. grabbing rebounds off both back-boards and topping all scorers in the title game with 26 points. Duquesnes dTfendTng Ramming, Orlando Ignite Last Period Rally" By Joe Lovas Hr.ld-Kwi Sparta Editor Union Hill High School, which had waited 36 yeir to win a Group IV basketball championship last year at Elizabeth, repeated a New Jersey State Interscholastia Athletic Association titleholder Saturday night at Rutger University Gym, New Brunswick. Before 2,200 fans, the Hillers of Hudson County staged a fourth quarter rally to defeat Trenton, 70-68, andT wia their third Group IV state crown. Met In 1919 Other public schools crowned Saturday night were North Arlington, Group Palmyra, Group II, and Cranford, Group HI. North Arlington beat Bordentown, 68-57, at New Brunswick, while Palmyra defeated Roselle Park, 59-38, and Cranford turned back Penns Grove, 73-63, in finals at Princeton Universitys Dillon Gymnasium. The first time Union Hill met Trenton in a state tourney game was back in 1919, the Hillers winning the state semifinal tussle at the old Ballantine gym in New Brunswick.

Union Hill won the title that year, defeating Passaic, in the first state tournament ever held. Last year, after a wait of 36 years. Union Hill won Its second state title, beating New Brunswick. In between 1919 and 1955, Union Hill was a beaten finalist five times, losing to Trenton in the 1934 finaL Passalo Recard stands Saturdays finale was a thriller throughout. With four minutes to play in the third quarter, it looked like Trenton would at long last break its tia with Passaic in the number of state title victories.

Each has six, best in the Group IV division. With Wally Colender and Sonny Pittaro sparking a ton rally, the Red and forged into a 49-42 lead. This was cut to 55-51 at the end of the period as Colender and Pettaro scored 20 of Trentons 22 points in the quarter between them. However, Union Hills George Ramming and Harry Orlando ignited Coach George Faltings Hillers and with four minutes left, the Hudson County team was in front, 62-57. Colender, who led the Trenton scorers with 24 points, was held without a point in the final quarter.

Orlando and Ramming cored Union Hill'a final two baskets to insure the victory, Dover Downing putting in a goal with only four seconds left to cut the difference to two points. Orlando, Ramming and Colender were easily the outstanding player this writer saw during the 1955-56 campaign. Orlando is a terrific take-charge guy and his dribbling antics had Trenton defenders confused. Several times Orlando fribbled around the entire Trerrton team, starting at midcourt, and coming through with a basket.
