2 The Kane Republican, Monday, October 27, 1975 Paragraphs Church Notices In National Forest Setting Ronald Baughman of Mt. Jewett Married Baby Shower i A baby shower in honor of Mrs. Susan Frame was held at the Lobo Inn, near Kane, on Sunday, Oct. 19 with Mrs. Betty Shrubb and Mrs.

Sherry Bish the cohostesses. The 15 guests enjoyed an afternoon of games and conversation and the mother to be received many lovely and useful gifts. The hostesses served a delicious lunch from a table centered with an animal figurine in a baby motif. A lavender and white cake accented the centerpiece. The door prize was won by Dorothy Larson.

WILCOX HALLOWEEN PARADE ON THURSDAY TV nritnw tv inc nutvA vuiuiucci rue ucyair ment has announced that town's annual bouquet of flowers similar to those carried by the bride completed her attire. The best man was Edward Housler of Kane. The mother of the bride chose for the occasion a full length empire styled green gown with pink and white flowers. The gown featured a neckline and long fitted sleeves. The mother of the groom was attired in a gown with an orange organza top and printed skirt.

Her accessories included a white knit shawl and a silver purse. Both mothers completed their ensembles with white carnation corsages. Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held at the Custer City Men's Club. The wedding cake was baked by the mother of the bridegroom. Mr.

and Mrs. Barry Risinger of Indiana hosted a buffet dinner for the couple and a bridal shower was given by Mrs. Rae Cala mania of New York City. The new Mrs. Baughman is a graduate of Indiana High School and a 1971 graduate of the City College of New York.

Mr. Baughman is a 1965 graduate of Kane Area Senior High School. He attends the Bradford Campus of the University of Pittsburgh and is employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The newly married couple have taken up residence at Star Route, Lewis Run. Calvary Bethel Tabernacle, East Kane.

TREATED FOR INJURIES Miss Maria Rakiecki of Erie, formerly of West Kane, involved in a five vehicle accident on Rt. 6 near Youngsville Friday evening, was treated and released at Kane Community Hospital for injuries received in the wreck. Her car was demolished in the chain reaction collision. GIRL SCOUT MEETING The Ka Lu Neighborhood Girl Scouts will hold a neighborhood service team meeting on Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m.

at the First Methodist Church on Greeves Street. All members are urged to attend and make this meeting a success for the Ka Lus. MT. JEWETT MEETING The Swedish Festival Committee will meet tonight at the Mt. Jewett Borough Building at 7:30 p.m.

19, will include a tureen supper. DONNA BODISTOW OF WILCOX IS ENGAGED Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bodistow of Clarion Road, Wilcox, announce the engagement of their daughter Donna to William Sekelsky, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Frank Sekelsky of Kane Street, Wilcox. Donna is employed as a secretary in the office of attorney Ralph N. DeCamp of Kane. Her fiance is an employe of Penntech Papers Inc. No date has been set for the wedding.

ARRIVALS Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Eaton of Kane are the parents of a daughter born at Warren General Hospital Saturday. Mrs. Eaton is the former Susan Alexis.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack D. Stakley of Platte City, Mo. recently became the parents of an adopted daughter.

Mrs. Stakley is the former Linda Wallace, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wallace of Bradford. Jack Stakley is the son of Mr.

and Mrs. Richard W. Stakley of Kane R.D. 2. Mr.

Beauty Salon PHONE 837 6372 Under The Sun 'Alice Doesn't Day' To be Observed in State Wednesday HARRISBURG The Pennsylvania Commission for Women will hold an open house Wednesday, Oct. 29, in recognition of "Alice Doesn't Day," a nationwide strike planned by the National Organization for Women.

N.O.W. has urged women to demonstrate their importance to the economic system by withdrawing their support. Women have been asked not to work in or out of the home, not to spend money, and not to do volunteer work on that day. The Commission for Women's open house, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

in the commission's offices, will highlight the contributions of women workers and homemakers to American society. It will feature slide and film presentations on women in the economy, displays and information. Women's organizations from around the state will also be on hand with materials from their groups. "We thought it was important to lend support to the 'Alice Doesn't Day' activity," states Marie R. Keeney, director of the Commission for Women.

"We also see the open house as a good opportunity to increase public awarenesss of the Commission for Women's work," she adds. "After all, we're here to see that the contributions of the 6.6 million Alices of Pennsylvania be recognized, and that they have equal opportunity to contribute to and participate in life in the Commonwealth." The public is invited to attend the open house. Commission offices are located in Room 512 Finance Building, corner of Commonwealth and North streets in Harrisburg. Miller, pastor of the Free Methodist Church of Em porium, officiated at the ceremony which united in marriage the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry D. Jones of 323 North 7th Street, Indiana and the son of Mr. and Mrs.

Lewis Baughman of Mt. Jewett. The wedding rings exchanged by the couple were designed and created by Robert Davis of Las Cruces, N.Mex. Given in marriage by her father, the bride appeared in a polished cotton dress which featured a stand up collar, puffed sleeves, an empire waistline and ruffled hemline. The burgundy, blue and gold print dress was trimmed in ivory lace with a yellow ribbon and was made by the matron of honor.

A straw picture hat trimmed with matching yellow streamers and peacock feathers and an ivory shawl knitted by her maternal grandmother completed the bride's attire. She carried a half moon shaped bouquet of russet, yellow and gold mums, carnations and pom pons. Mrs. Susan Miller of Chicago, 111. was matron of honor.

She chose a green knit empire gown with long sleeves worn with an ivory shawl. A picture hat trimmed with feathers and a colonial Last Rites Howard Lester A Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Callistus Church here in memory of Howard W. Lester, 53, of Roystone Station, Sheffield, who died at the Hamot Medical Center in Erie on Thursday, Oct.

It was stated that all Democratic candidates for the Nov. 4 election have been urged to attend. A voting list and watchers' certificates will be available at the meeting. Invitation has been extended to the public to attend the meeting. Refreshements will be served following the meeting.

TWO DIE IN WRECK SAUNA, Pa. (AP) Two persons were killed in a headon collision involving a car and a pickup truck near this Westmoreland County town, police said. The victims were the truck driver, George Barr, 59, of Apollo in Armstrong County, and Zelma Daugherty of Avon more in Westmoreland County, who was driving the car. The accident occurred Sunday on Pennsylvania 819. SAINT IS PROCLAIMED VATICAN CITY (AP) Bishop Giustino de Jacobis, a 19th Century Italian missionary called the "Apostle of Ethiopia" where he was imprisoned and persecuted, was proclaimed a saint of the Roman Catholic Church on Sunday.

A crowd of 100,000 attended the canonization mass celebrated by Pope Paul VI in St. Peter's Square. The pontiff said he was prockiming the new saint "above all for the Ethiopian land and for the entire African continent which is on its way toward sure progress." BLAIR COUNTY FATALITY NEWRY, Pa. AP) Authorities say an Canfield, Ohio, youth was killed in a weekend auto mishap near this Blair County community. Jseph Young, 19, formerly of Duncanville, and visiting friends there, was killed when the car in which he was riding went out of control along a legislative route and struck a tree trunk Saturday.

Police said the driver, Randy Himes, 17, of Duncansville, was in fair condition in Altoona Mercy Hospital after being thrown from the car.
