They had intended building the church to a height of six feet with concrete and the balance of Iho building with brick, but the blocks suited them so well they decided to use it for the construction throughout. The ladies visited the local churches to get some ideas for their new church, of which Hair Smith of this city are the architects. Gilmore is the wife of John Gilniore, editor of the Freilonia Citizen, and Kirkpatrick is the wife of S. S. Kirkpatrick, senator from Wilson county.
