Pennsyl vanla, Joseph H. Glennon filled a high position of trust in the communitj i al in which he began business life as a its, "breaker, boy." He won iis way to let large possessions and was oiu of the most striking examples of the 'iv iMi i I wi fnp tl Alll(I charities and benevolences of his church and city, ever ready to aid a worthy cause. He was a democrat in his political faith, and in 1883 he was elected recorder of deeds for Luzerne county for a three year term, a post of responsibility he efficiently filled.

In 1884 he was alternate dele gate to the National Democratic Con vertion held in Chicago, which nom ME BOOSTER TI inated Grover Cleveland for I'resi dent of the Uni'ed States, he being Lhe first successful candidate of the party for (hat office since the elec lion of Buchanan ui 1856.
