March 13, 2001 Page 5 Despite tip, police have no leads in girl's disappearance BLAIRSVILLE (APJ An anonymous letter prompted Indiana County authorities to renew an investigation into the 1987 disappearance of a 15-year-old girl, but they have had little luck finding her. Police said their investigation into Alicia Markovich's disappearance on April 27. 1987, had stalled until her father, John Markovich, told them in October he had received a letter which purported to be a confession sent from Bedford, N.H. Based on information in the letter, and questioned a person whose name appeared on the letter.

Authorities said the individual had never heard of the girl or her family and didn't know where Blairsville was. Investigators are still looking for new leads. "It's been very frustrating," Trooper Robert Valyo told the GreensburgTri-bune -Review for a story in Monday's editions.
