COUGHLIN CLASS 1958: Coughlin High School Class of 1 958 will further plans for its golden anniversary reunion during a meeting Tuesday, Feb. 1 9, at 7 p.m. at Norm's Pizza, Wilkes-Barre. The fund-raising project will be discussed and invitations prepared for distribution.

Interested classmates are invited to assist. The reunion will be held Aug. 1 6 at Wyoming Valley Country Club. Almost one year after the departure of Dennis Fisher, WNEP has hired a news director. Erik Schrader, a native of Springfield, Pa. who last was news director at WJCLWTGS-TV in Savannah, will join Newswatch 16 on Thursday Schrader comes to WNEP with more than 18 years of news experience. His career began at KODE-TV the ABC affiliate in Joplin, where he worked in production. In 1991, he became a news reporter, then became sports director a few years later.

In 2000, Schrader became the news director at KODE. In 2002, he moved to KSPR-TV (ABC) in Springfield, and during his tenure as news director the station was honored with numerous awards by the Missouri Broadcasters' Association. His station's special on the first anniversary of 911 was named Best Special by the Missouri Broadcasters' Association. Fisher left WNEP in March 2007 to become a news director in Harrisburg. 'PA Morning' is no more WBRE and WYOU have amicably divorced.

This week, the stations ended their simulcast of "Pennsylvania Morning" as well as "Pennsylvania Midday" WBRE is airing a morning newscast from 5 to 7 a.m. with anchor Mark Hiller, followed by "The Today Show." But WYOU has totally abandoned its local morning newscasts. Instead, that station is continuing to air "CBS News Up to the Minute" in the early morning hours followed by "CBS Morning News" at 5 a.m. At 5:30, WYOU broadcasts "First Business Morning News," a fast-paced preview of Congressmen Chris Carney Tim Holden and Paul Kanjor-ski, who are all up for re-election, are the guests Thursday for "Bringing the House Home." The public is invited to be part of the studio audience in WVIA's high-definitition studio theater during the live show, hosted by Bill Kelly The show will be re-broadcast Friday at 7 p.m. For reservations, call Kath-ryn Davies at 602-1150 or Viewers can also participate in an on-line forum regarding the show's topic at www.wvia.

org. WVIA concert connection WVIA-TV and its FM radio station will host 2 free concerts in February. The "WVIA Homegrown Music Series" will present singer songwriter Jason and The Five Percent in a free show Monday, Feb. 11, at 8 p.m. at the WVIA Hi-Def Studio Theater, Pittston.

A live taping of the "WVIA Simply Grand Concert" featuring soprano Eileen Hanisch and pianist Ellen Flint performing a program of songs in German, Italian, English and French, will be held Friday Feb. 22, at 7:30 p.m. at the WVIA studios. The program will feature works by composers such as Henry Purcell, Hugo Wolf and Kurt in addition to music from South America with John-Marcel Williams, an 11-year-old guitar prodigy For reservations on either show, call 655-2808 or go to www.wvia.org. Kman, who co-hosts the radio station's morning news show from 6 to 9 with Kevin Lynn, has joined WVIA-TV as a correspondent.
