That's the conviction of 51 doc. tors on the staff of the Mary Thompson Hospital here, one of the two all-women medical Institutions In the country. Although the hospital stays close to Its founders concept of medical care "lor women by women," men aro welcomed within Its doors Male doctors are admitted to Its consulting and courtesy staffs and HO per cent of Its patients are men "A woman physician can develop a closer relationship between the doctor and patient," says Wallace C. Fischer, president of the hospital's board of trustees, "Women give a more personal, sympathetic service.

We actually feel that our men patients recover better and faster with personalized care." The hospital, founded In 18(15 by Dr. Mary Harris Thompson, has just added 11 beds In a new diagnostic center for In-patient use The project cost $250,000 and brought total beds to 130. Continued expansion Is planned for the next two or three years to bring total beds to 150, the amount needed for certification for surgery training and Internship The nation's only other all-woman hospital Is In Boston, Mass. During Its nearly 100 years of activity, the hospital has engineered several firsts.
