New for 1980 are two thrilling family rides, the Cyclops and the Pirat. These rides are two of the most popular rides in the theme park industry today, said Robert B. Payne, assistant general manager at Hersheypark. The Pirate and fThe Cyclops were selected for Hersheypark because we know they will appeal to a large segment of the parks Her-sheyparks guests." Weve expanded Her-sheyparks boundary northward by over an acre to accommodate these rides, states Payne. The structures of these new rides are especially attractive and well lit.

They will look quite impressive whether close up or at a distance. Armed Forces Day 1980 will be celebrated at Aberdeen Proving Ground from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 10. The theme for this years open house activities is U.S.

Armed Forces, Strong and Ready. The day is designed to be a family affair, with tours, demonstrations and exhibits that should appeal to every age group. Juried Show Planned By Museum The Baltimore Museum of Art has announced its plans for the 1980 Maryland Biennial juried competition and exhibition, scheduled to be shown at the museum in the newly-renovated main floor galleries from Dec. 14, 1980 through Feb. 1, 1981.

Guest curator of the exhibition will be Robin Greene, formerly the museums community coordinator. She will work with the museum staff in coordinating the details of the exhibition. The museum will once again invite a curator and an artist to serve as jurors for the 1980 Maryland Biennial. The names of the jurors will be announced shortly. Entry forms and the prospectus will be amiled out in early June.

Professional artists residing in Maryland who wish to receive the Prospectus and entry forms should contact the museum at 396-7101 (Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), to have his or her name placed on the Artists Biennial mailing list. A main event in the festivities will be the public viewing of some of the equipment currently being tested here, and will include many of the armaments of the 80s. The Proving Ground is unique in Americas defense plan because of the wide variety of research and test projects conducted here, ranging from selecting new field uniforms to developing the latest in armored vehicles. Many of the people and most of the pieces of hardware that will contribute to Americas strength and readiness during the decade ahead will be on hand to help an anticipated 20,000 plus visitors see and become familiar with the Proving Grounds role in the defense of Americas liberty.

Other scheduled highlights of the day-long affair include bus tours of many areas on the installation, such as the Munson Automotive Test Course and the site of historic Old Baltimore. The Maryland National Guard will hold rapelling and parachuting demonstrations and Maryland Air National Guard wul conduct a fly-by over the Main Front demonstration area. Other items of interest on the agenda include tours of the U.S. Army Ordinance Museum, a display of Warsaw Pact weaponry, exhibits and demonstrations from nearby universities and other groups that support the Proving Ground mission. Food and drink stands will be available at central locations around the post, with free bus transportation provided to and from exhibit and tour areas.
