Bernstein To Resign WASHINGTON (AP) Husband and wife journalists Carl Bernstein and Nora Ephron made their own news Wednesday: he announcing his resignation from the Washington Post, she announcing what she called the death of the feminist movement. Bernstein, whose Watergate reporting with Bob Woodward won a Pulitzer Prize for the Post, said Wednesday he would concentrate on book writing after leaving the paper Jan. 1. Ms. Ephron, senior editor of Esquire magazine, told a Brown University audience the women's movement had no leadership and had failed to help women come to grips with their role in society.

"For a lot of women, the women's movement has just given them a political rationalization for their fear of success," she said. (AP) Country music superstar Johnny Cash, who said he was "through with television" after his Monday night Christmas special, now says he plans to tape another show next Christmas. "I'm not through with television. I'm definitely not through with television," Cash said Wednesday.

"We were the No. 1 show in our time slot Monday night." Earlier, Cash had been as saying he felt the program, "Johnny Cash Christmas Special" on CBS, was "the worst in the history of television" and projected a false image of him. Cash gave no account for the apparent turnabout in his thinking. He reportedly had been upset because CBS cut some of his closing song, "Silent Night" and deleted scenes with his family. The 60-minute program was billed as "Christmas in Tennessee" and a "country- styled Christmas." Aiken Standard, Aiken, S.C., Thursday, December 9, 1976 Page 3 A Friends Pray Two Months Over Body NEW YORK (AP) For two the unembalmed corpse of a 29-year-old man lay in its bed white six of his friends prayed over the body, hoping to bring it back to life. The six men, who also paid the dead man's rent and other bills, were taken into custody Wednesday by police who entered Stephan Hatzitheodorou's one-room apartment and found them grouped around his body, chanting, "Rise, Stephan, rise." They were released after being cited for a health code violation of failing to report a death, which police said is not a criminal offense. Police said they believed Hat- zitheodorou, a Greek national, died on Oct. 9 of natural causes, possibly cancer. An autopsy was to be conducted today.

Neighbors in the West Side Manhattan luxury apartment building where the dead man lived said they had been aware for weeks of a continuous flow of well-dressed, polite young people, most of them men, in and out of the apartment 17H. Collette Fourastie, who lives across the hall from the Hat- zitheodorou apartment, said she noticed a putrid smell in the hallway about three weeks ago, but she said it was gone the next day. Another neighbor recalled a strong fragrance of incense one morning. Otherwise, they said, there was no noise or odor to indicate the bizarre rituals which authorities said were being conducted down the hall from them. Authorities said Hatzitheo- dorou's body was dressed in un- derwear and dark socks.

The six men told police that three days after his death "he appeared to look better" but failed to arise. Police said they did not know whether the men were part of an organized cult. They said the six told them that zitheodorou had stwed religious views. Hat Dr. Meriwether To Participate In Flu Conference COLUMBIA (AP)-Dr.
