of our neighborhoods, schools, churches, hospitals, businesses, political institutions and yes, even around the world They would not be quiet when shouting was necessary; nor would they be silent when agitation was required. Theirs is a rich legacy and so is ours. The Atlanta Voice has now ably served our community for 40 years without fear or favor. My family and I are proud to have been the voice for those who simply needed our platform to plead their cause and bring light to their situation. It is necessary in these days and times that we insure mat our voices are heard and magni fied like never before. Our collective voice must be heard, if we are to survive in an ever increasingly dangerous world. It is no longer true to say, "What you don't know can't hurt you." In such a complex world as we live in, what you don't know can kill you. Today, the Atlanta Voice can be read in print, online at www.theat-Iantavoice.com and soon we'll be heard on air. Our future includes connecting with newspapers across the country and across the oceans.

Some have refused to be quiet at the risk of bodily harm, while others, among honorees, have let men-voices be heard in the name of truth and justice. All have carved a place in Atlanta's history, as voices dedicated and committed to improving the quality of life for African Americans and native Atlantans alike.
