JOHNS, N. F. In a tiny monoplane, only twenty one and a half feet from tip to tip, Urban F. Diteman a cattleman of Billings, took off alone Tuesday from Harbor Grace, for London. Only 165 gallons of gas was in the small bhip, which has an open cockpit, exposing Diteman to all weather, but the plane's gas consump ie Gridders Might mm University Farm FARMHAND ATTACKED MODESTO Sam Keller, 42, farmhand, thrown into ditch, knocked unconscious by stranger who asked him and seemed dull.

She had been adopted when a little more than a year old. Her foster parents told her about it when she was old enough to understand but the explanation was unskillful. Her imagination was stirred by the thought of her unknown real parents by the great mystery that lay back of her life. These parents became romantic, wonderful Upon this foundation she built a world of phantasy. She would sit in school day dreaming.

When she told When a child day dreams, what of it? Ordinarily it's nothing to worry about. We've all done it and survived the experience. Sometimes, however, excessive phantasy interferes with a child's progress in school and sets what time it was. Keller lost njon rate js low, watch and $42. up a vicious circle of compensation in more day dreaming that results in a serious neivous condition.

He boldly names the Daughters of the American Revolution as one such group that has allowed its organization to be made a tool and accessory for big aimament movements. Whatever William B. Shearer's actual importance, or unimportance, his activities and their lecent revelation have had or may havesome good results in straightening out the public's estimate of the usefulness of various organizations.

At present there is much confusion as to who are and who are not true patriots, what groups are engaged in dangeious and what in beneficial propaganda. This is a period of great club activity. Organizations are formed for the promotion and advancement of almost every imaginable cause and idea. Other organizations are formed to combat these. It is a wise club member who knows precisely what his or her group stands for, or what its pui pose is.

In all this confusion a good many false bogeys have been raised to terrorize unthinking individuals. A housecleaning of its own intellectual and patriotic ideas and aims might very well be given fiist place in the fall program of many a self respecting and well meaning organization. Money still talks, and the little bills have about as much to say as the big ones did. its registration, but with indifferent success. There are real possibilities from an advertising standpoint in winning football aggregations such as Toomey is developing.

All Yolo county can well afford to give the Aggies hearty support. A bigger Univesrity Farm means a bigger Yolo county. nl 5 I I Sir lisi cal or mental disturbance exists. Undr the guidance of Crip Toomey, the California Aggies have developed into one at the strongest football elevens in the State. They have a clean slate for victories and have won the whole hearted of the entire Davis community.

From a sporting consideration, the Aggies atS Yolo county's best bet. Their playing Uit year and this season have put Davis on the" front page of all the meti opolitan newspaper sport sections and every time that any Yolo' township can gain favorable publicity the whole county benefits. The University Farm has long suffered from lack of advertising. One does not have to' go farther south than Fresno to find thousands of people who do not know that California has such an efficient agricultural college' as the one in operation at Davis. There is no doubt but that the registration of the college at Davis could be trebled in a few years if more attention were given tb the business of telling Californians of its advantages.

The University of California has an able news director in Harold Ellis, but his offices are at Berkeley and it is a physical impossibility for him to give all the individual news service that the agricultural college at Davis really justifies. The success of the Aggie gridders has piobably brought the school more columns of publicity this year than has come from other source. Notre Dame's great football teams have swelled the attendance at Notre Dame University to such an extent that a plan is now on foot for doubling the accomodations for students. Pop Warner's success at Stanford has likewise created nation wide interest in the Palo Alto institution and one almost has to have political influence to gain admission at Stanford, so great is the demand for enrollment. Other cases could be cited.

Crip Toomey and his Aggies might effect a similar result at Davis.
