The pistons have been ground to limits of one thousandth of an inch end have been graded into three classes, according to whether they are a fraction above perfection, a fraction below it, or just about right. The cylinder bores have also been accurately finished and graded in the same manner. During the assembly operation the workmen will fit certain grades of pistons to certain grades of cylinder bores, in order to get as perfect a fit as possible.
