A To StraielitL-n Out Tliul EBITOK PKMOCHAT; I ask a short space in your paper to straighten out that "startling, sensational statement," in justice to myself and all concerned. I do not wish to deny any part of my statement, for I said just what I meant to convey to tbe minds of those present, and from more than one incident of my own knowledge, in connection with statements made at a public meeting of mothers held at tho M. E. Church, South, I believe them to be the facts. I did not have any thought of the teachers being concerned in the matter, but I did want the fathers ami voters of the meeting to know the facts, so they would see the necessity of removing those bouses in order to protect tbe boys of our city.

If the reporter had headed my statement A Greater Cause For Closing Those Houses," he would have been presenting the matter in a more valuable light to the public than he did by throwing a headlight on a mother whose heart and soul is in this work for the good of our boyf. My statement was called forth by the remarks of others in regard to tliN purity fjtiestion. I said that we did not have to wait any longer to see the- evil. Our boys (meaning the ooys of the city; wore already bcinK ruined by those houses, for it is a fact that they go there four and five at a time, in broad daylight, and stayed tin hour and a half at a time--boys of an age that go to tho brick school house-, for at the time this work was boint: done the oldest and largest boys of the public school went to the brick schoolhouso, Mits. 0.K.
