Denver, April 26. The state supreme court has denied the motion for the release of Charles H. Moyer, president of the Western Federation of Miners, on bail pending a decision on the habeas corpus proceedings in his behalf. Tha hearing on the merits of the case was set for May 5. Woman Murdered; Boarder Missing. New York, April 20. Mrs. Julia Schunadti was murdered in her home in Jersey City, her body being found hidden under a pile of wood in the cellar. That she had been strangled was shown by a piece of cord knotted tightly round her neck.

Mrs. Schunadti, who kept a boarding house for laborers, was last seen alive in the morning, when her husband and the boarders went out to work. Thomas Mi cheles. one of the boarders, who came from Buffalo three weeks ago, is missing and is suspected of committing the murder for the sake of robbery. Owing to the fact that the summary department is the place where the prisoners awaiting trial are kept, the watch over it is not so vigilant as in other parts of the prison. Sent Janitor to Europe. New York, April 26. The members of the New York Stock Exchange have sent Barney Smith, their janitor, to Europe on a vacation trip. His salary will go on in the meantime, and his trip expenses are ail paid.

Life Sentence For Brooklyn Murderer. New York, April 20. Frank MeNa mara, who shot and killed Captain George R. Jennings, president of the Jennings Adjustable Shade company of Brooklyn, pleaded guilty to murder in the first degree when arraigned for trial here.
