This made it difficult for Belicic to pass as the stats show he completed only three of 11 passes for 18 yards, one of which was the six-yard TD. Sharkey, besides scoring the Cougar TD and booting the extra point, was also the top ground-gainer as he carried the ball 24 times for 93 yards. Bruce Hancock was the top gainer for the Trojans as he carried 13 times for 41 yards.

By GORDY SHUTTER PALMYRA Opportunity smiled on both the Palmyra High Cougars and the Hershey High Trojans on Saturday afternoon, but it was the ability of the Trojans in converting two of four breaks into scores while the Cougars could score but once on five Trojan mistakes that made the difference. At it was, the Trojans had to rely on the kicking foot of QB Ben Belicic to boot a 29-yard field goal late in the third period to come out 10-7 victors in the final Capital Area Conference game for both teams. Second Period The Cougars received another break early in the second period when linebacker Len Chimel recovered a Trojan fumble on the Hershey 33. Although they could gain but one yard in four plays, the stage was set for Dame Fortune to smile again on the Cougars. The Trojans, on their 32, gained four, were set back five on a penalty, gained another yard and then lost six as Belicic could not find a receiver open. Forced to punt, Trojan kicker Tony Mandes was slow in getting the punt away.

Cougar guard Craig Goudy got a hand on the ball and tackle Don Neiswender fell on the ball at the Trojan five. Mike Sharkey got three yards and then hit off left tackle for the final two yards for the TD. Sharkey also split the uprights for the bonus and the score was 7-7. Cougars Mitch Storey and Keith Weaver both intercepted passes later in the second pe riod, both in Trojan territory, but were unable to benefit by them. Second Half 1 The Trojans received the second-half kickoff, but were unable to move.

The Cougars also gave up the ball and then the Trojans were stymied before they received their next break. Carl Curry, Trojan defensive back, pilfered a Wise pass on the Trojan 42 and ran all the way to the Palmyra 22. A.M. to 9:30 P.M The win gave the Trojans one-third share of fifth place along with East Pennsboro and Susquehanna each with 5-5 records, while the loss kept the Cougars in eighth place with a 3-7 record, and 4-7 overall. First Break The Cougars received the opening kickoff and moved from their 29 to their 36, where they were forced to kick. Jim Hanula, Cougar punter, dropped back to his 21 to kick, the Trojans put on a rush and in his haste to get the ball away Hanula put the ball straight up in the air. To make matters worse the ball took a Hershey bounce and was downed on the Cougar 19.

Five plays later Belicic heaved six-yard pass to Doug Wine in the end zone for the first score. Belicic booted the bonus and the Trojans were out in front 7-0 with 6:46 left in the opening period. Two exchanges of punts later the Cougars received their first break and mistake, all in one play. Belicic tossed a heave from his 31, that was tipped by Cougar Bart Simons into the arms of tackle Hanula. With two blockers in front he started goalward.
