sr'l we OBITUARIES 22 South Bend Tribune, Monday, April 11,1 983 Indiana-Michigan obituaries Robert J. Brundydge NILES Robert J. Brundydge, 50, of 407 N. 15th St died Sunday morning in Pawating Hospital. He was born on Sept.

22, 1932, in Mishawaka, and had lived all his life in the area. On Sept 22, 1968, in Niles, he married the former Sarah Hill Morgan, who died on Sept. 12, 1982. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Kathy) Dosmann of Mishawaka and Miss Shelly Brundydge of Niles; two stepdaughters, Mrs.

Robert (Rose) Pilkington of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Mrs. Tony (Phyllis) Hanback of Buchanan; two stepsons, William J.Morgan of Columbia, S.C., and Charles M. Morgan of Niles, and 11 grandchildren. He was retired from Bendix South Bend and was a Korean War Army veteran. He was a life member, past commander and county commander of Niles American Legion Post 26 and a charter member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4025, Niles.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Halbritter Funeral Home. Rev. Fred T. pastor of the South Niles Community Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity. Mrs.

Pearl 1. 1 body GALIEN Services for Mrs. Pearl I. Imbody, 89, of Rt. 1, who died Sunday morning at her home after a lengthy illness, will be at 2 p.m.

Tuesday in the Connelly-Noble Funeral Home, Three Oaks. Rev. George E. Helmuth, pastor of First Apostolic Church of Bridgman, will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Three Oaks.

Friends may call until 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gal-ien Emergency Vehicle Association. She was born on Feb. 22, 1894, in Three Oaks Twp.

She lived her lifetime in the area. On July 4, 1911, she married Frank Stanage. He died in 1938. In March 1954 she married Alvin Imbody. He died in 1974.

Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. Dorothy" Scheib, Mrs. Bessie Rodgers, Miss Bernice Stanage, Mrs. Neva Payne, Mrs. Myma Jackson and Mrs.

Leona Root, all of Galien, and Mrs. Helen Krumm of Three Oaks; two sons, Arthur Stanage of Green-castle, and Donald Stanage of Three Oaks; 41 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Walter Moran of South Bend. A daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Jackson, died in 1953. memorial contributions may made to the building fund.

She was born southeast of Goshen on March 4, 1902, and married Paul R. Unzicker on March 10, 1921. He died on April 25, 1971. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Byron (Margaret) Balyeat of Middlebury and Mrs.

Wilden (Mary Louise) Snyder and Mrs. Olan (Joan) Penland, both of Goshen; a foster son, Edward J. Smoker of Osceola; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Louise Koerner of Goshen; and three brothers, Dwight Smoker of Wanatah, Russell Smoker of Watertown, and Charles Smoker of Warsaw. Mrs.

Chleo Mae Anderson GOSHEN Services were held on Sunday for Mrs. Chleo Mae Anderson, 79, who died Friday in Fountainview Place Nursing Center. Rev. John Hofer of the Fish Lake Lutheran Church officiated and burial was in Benton Cemetery. Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home made arrangements.

She was born in Clinton Twp. on April 8, 1904, and married Lewis G. Anderson on Nov. 22, 1944. He died on Feb.

23, 1979. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Margaret Berkey in Greencroft Manor, Goshen; and three brothers, Noble Vance in Fountainview Place, Goshen; Harley (Joe) Vance of Millersburg; and Albert Vance of Kalamazoo, Mich. Mrs. Davis Kurakow GOSHEN Mrs.

Davis Kurakow, 83, of 825 W. Wilden, died Sunday in Goshen General Hospital where she had been a patient since March 25. She was born on May 3, 1899, in tl)e Ukraine and came to Goshen from Chicago in 1967. Her husband, Emilian, died in September 1965. Surviving are a son, Gregory Sosnovsky in the Ukraine; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A prayer service will be at the' Yoder-Culp Funeral Home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, followed by visitation until 9 p.m. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church with Very Rev. Igor Zbotaniw officiating.

Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the church for one hour before services. Mrs. Pauline M. Mechling ELKHART Mrs.

Pauline Mae Mechling, 68, of 2425 Morton Ave. and North Fort Myers, died Sunday afternoon in North Fort Myers. The Stemm-Lawson-Peter-son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Sofia Mariasch ELKHART Mrs.

Friends may call in the funeral home. She was born on July 6, 1900, in Davis Starke County, and had been a lifelong area resident. On Sept.

24, 1921 in St. Joseph, she married Adoloph Pflugshaupt, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Wayne, at home, and Walter Pflugshaupt of Knox; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Hamlet United Methodist Church Mrs. Clifton (Imogene) Prewitt KNOX Services for Mrs.

Imogene Prewitt, 71, of 151 W. Delaware, who died Saturday afternoon in LaPorte Hospital after a 1-year illness, will be at 2 m. CST Tuesday in the Rannells Funeral Horpe, Hamlet Chapel. Rev. Arnold Flehgle, pastor of Plymouth Wesleyan Church, will officiate.

21, 1911, in Richey, 111., and moved to Knox in 1967 from East Chicago, Ind. On Sept. 22, 1958, in Donaldson, she married Clifton Prewitt, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Henry (Carol) Joseph of Knox; a son, Donald R.

Wilson of South Dakota a stepdaughter, Beryl Foster of Moscow, a stepson, Leon Prewitt of East Chicago; and 10 grandchildren. She whs a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 447 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 131, both in Knox. Mearl E. Moyer SHIPSHEWANA Mearl E. Moyer, 72, of Rt.

2, died Sunday afternoon in the Caylor-Nickel Clinic, Bluffton. He was born on July 1, 1910, in Beech, N.D., coming to Shipshewana in 1966 from Nap-panee. On June 7, 1933, he married Florence Gall, who survives. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Banning of and a brother, Oscar Moyer of Dallas, Tex.

He was a retired truck mechanic. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Miller Funeral Home, Middlebury. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m.

and Mrs. Charles Allen of Wawaka. Mrs. Ruby M. Unzicker GOSHEN Services for Mrs.

Ruby M. Unzicker, 81, of 64213 Meadow Ridge, who died Sunday in the emergency room of Goshen General Hospital where she had been admitted minutes earlier, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Yoder-Culp Funeral Home with Rev. Vyron Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. She was a charter member, and the oldest living member, of the Silver Street Mennonite Church to which conda, Mont. On Aug.

9, 1944, in Seattle, she married Harlan G. Grice, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Karen Barnhart of LaPorte; three sons, David, Larry and Gary Grice, all of LaPorte; seven two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Shaffer of St.

Louis Park, and Mrs. Lois Rodlund of Fremont, and three brothers, Robert Miller of Whitman, Ralph Miller of Arvada, and Neal Miller of Anaconda, Mont. A brother preceded her in death. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Haverstock Funeral Home.

Rev. Terry Rhine, pastor of Salem United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City. Friends may call from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and on Wednesday until the services in the funeral home.

Paul A. Hay LAPORTE Services for Paul A. Hay, 67, of 3743 N. LaPorte County Road 50 LaPorte, who died early Sunday in LaPorte Hospital, will be at noon Wednesday in the Haverstock Funeral Home. Rev.

Kenneth Filkins, pastor of Rolling Prairie First Christian Church, where Hay attended, will officiate. Burial will be in the Patton Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and on Wednesday until the services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Hay was bom on July 21, 1915, in Somerset, and moved to LaPorte 27 years ago from Pennsylvania. On Oct. 4, 1933, in Cumberland, he married the former Mary M. Baker. She survives with two daughters, Mrs.

Robert (Barbara) Shumaker and Mrs. Thomas (Donna) Wagner, both of LaPorte; three sons, Ernie and Alan, both of LaPorte, and Paul L. of LaPorte, 15 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. A sister and a brother preceded him in death. He was a retired Indiana Toll Road employee.

Thomas Noah Tucker LACROSSE Services for Thomas Noah Tucker, 85, of Lacrosse, who died early Suhday in the Whispering Pines Nursing Home, Valparaiso, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Johns Lutheran Church, of which he was a member. Rev. David Truemper, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery of Wanatah. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Kosanke Funeral Home of Kouts. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the nursing home.

He was bom April 27, 1897, in Monee, 111. He moved to LaCrosse 62 years ago, coming from Illinois. On April 28, 1926, in Kouts, he married Eva M. Rosenbaum. She survives along with a daughter, Mrs.

Marilyn Heinold of LaCrosse; two sons, Thomas of Riyadh, Sadia Arabia, and John of Youngstown, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Clinton of Peotone, 111., Mrs. Mablle Wright of Columbia City, and Mrs. Hazel Gross of Michigan City; and three brothers, Rai-nard of Valparaiso, Clifford of Kouts and Leonard of Palace Hills, I1L He was a retired carpenter. He lived his lifetime the area. On March 1, 1929, in Howe, he married Eunice Strong. She survives along with seven daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Lucille) Linn and Mrs. James EL (Nathalie) Gangwer, both of Topeka, Mrs.

John (Florence) Schultz of Port Richey, Mrs. Elrnie (Zelma) Merritt of Constantine, Mrs. Junior (May) Miller of Three Rivers, Mrs. Leland (Mary) Smith of Sturgis, Mich, and Mrs. Alice Miller of LaGrange; four sons, Franklin of Lynn, George Jr.

Mongo, Ind, John EL of Sturgis and Glen A. of Howe, 31 grandchildren; six stepgrandchil-dren; 21 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Glen B. (Lenore) Croy Bronson, Mich. He was born Nov.

20, 1924, near Tyner. On July 4, 1972, in Rochester, he married Catherine Peltz, who survives. Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Whitten of Kingsford Heights, and Mrs. Vickie Plazarin of Yatesboro, six sons, Rick and Bill Culp, both of Valparaiso, Steven of Westville, Walter of Gary, Fred of Wheeler, and Lonnie Culp of Missouri; 24 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs.

Murry Perry of LaPorte, and Mrs. Carleton Magee and Mrs. John Hauber, both of Mishawaka; two brothers, Carl of Plymouth and Hamilton Culp of Dowagiac, Mich; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Judy Marion of Lebanon, and Mrs. Paula Spencer of Lucerne; and three stepsons, Steve and Dennis Peltz Of Plymouth and Ted Peltz of Canton, Tex.

He was retired from Inland Steel, Chicago. He was a member of the church, Argos American Legion Post 68 and the Rochester VFW. Daniel B. Bontrager LAGRANGE Services for Daniel B. Bontrager, 92, of Rt.

4, who died Sunday afternoon in his home following a two and a half year illness, will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the home of Melvin Schlabach, County Road 300 W. and 300 S. Amish Bishops Samuel J.R. Miller and Ralph Shrock will officiate.

Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, County Road 350 S. and 300 W. Friends may call at the Bontrager home on County Road 250 W. and 175 after 5 p.m. today and all day Tuesday.

Frurip-May Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was bom Nov. 18, 1890, in La-Grange County, where he lived all his life. Bontrager was a farmer and former Amish bishop. In 1912, he married Rosa Edna Yoder in Haven, Kan.

She died in October 1973. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Enos (Anna) Miller of La-Grange and Mrs. William (Edna) Yoder of Sylacauga, a son, Chris D. of LaGrange; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; seven sisters, Mrs.

Noah (Mary) Nisly, Mrs. Fannie Helmuth, Mrs. Roman (Anna) Mast and Mrs. Fred (Susan) Yutzy, all of Hutchinson, Mrs. Eli (Kattie) Bontrager of Kalona, Iowa, Mrs.

Eli (Barbara) Troyer and Mrs. Menno (Deli-la) Mullett both of Plain City, Ohio; and a brother, John D. of Utica, Minn. George C. Ponchaud LAPORTE Services for George C.

Ponchaud, 68, of 202 Lak-eshore Drive, who died Saturday night in LaPorte Hospital following a lengthy illness, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Haverstock Funeral Home. Dr. Charles Cook, pastor of First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday until services at the funeral home. He was bom April 12, 1914, in Crystal Falls, Mich. He moved to LaPorte 13 years ago, coming from Chesterton. On Nov.

8, 1947, in Webster Groves, he married Miriam EL Thomas. She survives along with a sister, Mrs. Alice Bengry of Orange, and a brother, Arthur Ponchaud of Grand Rapids, Mich. He received a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan. He was director of research and development at the Coke and Coal Chemicals Division of the U.S.

Steel Corp. He owned and operated the First Street Laundry from 1960 until his retirement in 1981. Arthur J. Crosby LAPORTE Services for Arthur J. Crosby, 78, of 3076 S.

LaPorte County Road 300 who died Saturday night in LaPorte. Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Haverstock Funeral Home. Rev. Terry Rhine, pastor of the Salem United Methodist Church, of which was a member, will officiate.

He moved to LaPorte in 1925 from Wolcott On June 1924, in Wolcott he married the former Elsie L. Miller. She survives with a daughter, Mrs. Alfred (Merriam) Wilson of LaPorte; three grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Ethel Hoppee of Wolcott A son, Robert and three brothers preceded him in death.

He was retired from the AUis-Chalmers Corp. Mrs. Harlan (Ruth EL) Grice LAPORTE Mrs. Ruth Ellen Grice, 58, of 6373 W. LaPorte County Road 250 died Sunday night in LaPorte Hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was bom on Oct 30, A. of of in of of will rien General Hospital, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Sodus. Rev. George Fleming, pastor, will officiate.

1, 1903, in Chicago, 111. On Jan. 29, 1927, in St. Joseph, he married Elsie Leitz, who survives. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.

He was a retired farmer and retired from the Berrien County Road Commission after 40 years of service. He was a member of the church and the Berrien County Sheriffs Posse. Frederick C. Volt DOWAGIAC Services for Frederick Charles Voit, 75, of Stone Lake Woods Apartments, Cassopo-lis, a former Dowagiac resident, who died Saturday night in his home, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Groner Funeral Home.

He was born on Oct 8, 1907, in Stevensville and had lived most of his life in the Dowagiac area. On Sept. 20, 1930, in South Bend, he married Mildred Schaffer, who died on Aug. 9, 1982. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs.

Shirlee Loik-its of Eau Claire, Mrs Virginia Be-kampis of Dowagiac and Mrs. Nila Overmyer of Edwardsburg; 11 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Carrie Bannish of Berrien Springs, Mrs. Mary Barkman of Niles and Mrs. Lillian Ahonen of Dowagiac; and a brother, Frank Voit of Coloma.

He was past presideht of Dowagiac Eagles Club. Indiana Mrs. Ralph (Helen) Biller MILFORD Services for Mrs. Helen (Baker) Biller, 70, of 103 N. Henry who died Saturday night in Goshen General Hospital, will be at 1:30 p.m.

Tuesday in the Milford Christian Church. Rev. Carl Sherer, pastor, and Rev. Fred Walls, associate pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier.

In 1934, she married William Baker. He died in 1958. In 1958, she married Ralph Biller, who survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Jack (Nancy) Fieder of Elkhart, Mrs.

Patricia Bryant, of Goshen and Mrs. Douglas (Becky) Koher of Warsaw; three sons. Jack L. Baker and Dean Baker, both of Milford, and Richard Baker of Blackman Lake, a stepson, Greg Biller of Goshen; 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Faye) Callender of Allegan, and Mrs.

Edward (Jean) Vannette of Ligonier; and two brothers, Frank C. Fisher of Ligonier and Maurice Fisher of Bourbonnais, III She was a member of the church. She was retired in 1978 from Essex Ligonier, where she had been a personal manager. Dr. Robert B.

Ruth Wild of Union; and two half-brothers, Melvin J. Weaver of Milwaukee, and Delbert A. Weaver of Edwardsburg. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart Rev.

Randall Whitsel, pastor of Chapel Hill Missionary Church, will officiate. Burial will be in South-lawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. He was a retired machinist with Dodge Manufacturing Co.
