Robert K. Adair, Chester V. Easum, John and Charles K. McLane, were announced today as recipients of fellowship awards from the Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. Dr.

Adair, 211 Lake Lawn a physics instructor, will study the low lying excited states of heavy nuclei. Dr. Easum, 115 N. Allen history professor. Mill study the history of the Hohenzollern empire, 1871 to 1918.

Dr. Emlen, 2621 Van Hise -zoology professor, will do research into the phylogeny of behavior in swallows and other passerine birds, and Dr. McLane, Route 4, assistant physics professor, will study properties of matter at demagnetization temperatures. In all, the Foundation announced 191 awards for 1953, totalling $780,000 to scholars, journalists, writers, artists, and composers in the United States, Canada, and the British West Indies. Fellowships are granted to persons demonstrating capacity for original scholarly research and artistic creation.

The Foundation was established in 1925 by the late U. S. Sen. Simon Guggenheim, of Colorado, and his wife in memory of their son, John S. Guggenheim, who died in 1922.
