All this comes authoritatively from Gene Philhppi, a long-time Flagstaff resident with an authoritative air about things electronic, whose fertile, creative imagination and esthetic good taste are primarily responsible for brining KFGT into existence. Phillippi conceived of KFGT, weather from a shoe-box-size automatic weather station atop KFGTs transmitter building. The voice, soft-toned and blending with the music, is that of Audrey Tittle, womens director for Station WSB in Atlanta, whose recorded voice has been heard 'many times by literally millions of Americans who didnt know what time it was and called a Bell SIstem phone exchange to find out.

Hence the sobriquet Little Audrey. The Audichron Installed at KFGT is the first pilot unit evre made for commercial radio broadcastings and is also so completely automatic that it can even protect itself from its own goofs. The biggest job in setting up the new station, which has its transmitter, tower and office located just under Mars Hill in West Flagstaff, was synchronizing the Audichron and automated programmatic unit, Phillippi says. With all the electronic gismos in the station, Phillippi has also installed a gimmick that he dreamed up himself an electronic reverberation chamber that adds depth and resonance to whatever is on the air. Its nothing at all like an echo chamber, so dont call it that, he cautions.

This, in effect, gives a designed a good part of it, hand-built it and backed it to the extent of getting it on the air. Its different than anything else in the area, he earnestly.
