Try 2 The SUN, Flagstaff. Arizona. Wednesday. August 18. 1982 Prescott TV Station to Debut The Forecast For 8 p.m.

Normal for this date 11.67, To date last year 15.85. childrens programming Saturdays, Moore continued. Instead, the station will feature a series of country shows and a local information program, The Carol Adams Show, hosted by actress Carol Adams, a Prescott resident formerly married to actor Nick Adams. Since were independent, it gives us more flexibility in different kinds of programming, Moore said. The programs were picked by the people who live around here.

Originally slated to go on the air in July and then again Aug. 22, KUSK-TV has a staff of 25 people in their mid-30s, Moore said. The station is owned by William H. Sauro, an advertising executive from Phoenix. The delays in transmission were caused by equipment delays and delivery trucks getting lost.

The delays, however, have caused a wait-and-see attitude among many, including Warner Amexs Eld Thomson. Warner Amex will carry the station in Flagstaff, Thomson said, but since much of the terrain between Mingus Mountain and Flagstaff is mountainous and may therefore disrupt transmission, he is not positive as to whether the station will come into the Flagstaff area without $6,000 worth of equipment which would make reception clearer. Im not going to buy the equipment until I see them on the air, he said. The company is planning on ordering an antenna and a processor, which would convert the stations airwaves to another channel. However, Moore said anyone with an antenna outside his home should be able to recieve the station in Flagstaff.

Sept. 5, and youll see the final results of what has been three years in the making: KUSK-TV from Prescott will be lighting up video boxes throughout the living rooms of Northern Arizona.

Independent station KUSK will be providing more coverage for Prescott and the Verde Valley, said station manager David Moore, and will be transmitted via Warner Amex Cable Television to Flagstaff homes as well. Prescott and the Verde Valley areas are under-covered, as far as news and public affairs are concerned, Moore said. There isnt a TV station in Northern Arizona except for Channel 2, and they cant serve advertising in this area as well as we are able to. The transmitter, located on Mingus Mountain, will deliver the 10,000 watts of power throughout the area. The station will deliver more complete news, weather and sports to the Prescott area, Moore said.

He cited a need for complete coverage using the recent victory of a Prescott softball team at a national softball tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah. When the Utah teams were eliminated from the competition, the coverage stopped, he said, adding that although the Prescott newspaper covered the event, what was really needed was television coverage. Programming, Moore said, was selected by local people. The station took a survey of residents and asked them what they wanted to see on the local station. The result is a combination of satellite programming, local informational shows, movies and reruns.

News will be provided by the Cable News Network, Atlanta, Moore said. Also, local news broadcasts at 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, will be featured. There will be no I avoid further recessions. Carter Legal Battle Continues TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -Lawyers for former middleweight boxing contender Rubin Hurricane Carter and companion John Artis say they will carry on their 16-year legal battle despite their failure to obtain a second retrial on murder charges. The state Supreme Court upheld the pairs conviction on first-degree murder charges stemming from the gunshot slayings of three Paterson bar patrons in 1966. They were first convicted in 1967 and again during a retrial in 1976. In Tuesdays ruling, the court rejected claims that prosecutors withheld evidence favorable to the pair.

The evidence was results of a lie detector test of a prosecution witness. "The next step is federal court in Newark, said Myron Beldock, Carters lawyer. Carter is serving three life sentences. Artis is on parole. McCOY MOTORS 361 North Switzer Canyon Drive Flagstaff, Arizona (602) 774-1472 i A i a AtuMai.
