KOAI Completes Sale of Station Capitol Broadcasting Company, headquartered in Jackson, announced today the conclusion of a sales agreement reached with the stockholders of Grand Canyon Television, Flagstaff, to purchase Television Station KOAI-TV, Channel 2, the NBC affiliate. Capitol Broadcasting is the current owner and licensee of WJTV, Channel 12, CBS Jackson; and KKTV. Channel 11, CBS Colorado Springs, as well as WSLI and WJFR-FM radio in Jackson. The company is owned stations by Mississippi Publishers Corporation, Standard Life Insurance Company, L. M.

Sepaugh and the Estate of T. B. Lanford, Shreveport, La. The Lanford Estate is in effect the licensee of KCTV. Channel 8, San Angelo, Texas; KALB-TV.

Channel 5, Alexandria, plus two radio stations in Alexandria and two radio stations in Florida. The acquisition of the Flagstaff property is a continuation of plans to further acquire and operate radio and television properties as suitable broadcast facilities become available. Dan Modisett, who is an eight-year veteran of radio and television with Capitol in Jackson, will be general manager of the Flagstaff station reporting directly to Owens Alexander, executive vice president of Capitol. Immediate plans include increasing coverage of the Flagstaff station by installing a new transmitting plant which will permit the station to operate at its maximum allowable power. Other long range plans include a completely new studio installation which will probably be in a new location in Flagstaff with target date sometime in 1982.

Capitol Broadcasting's purpose is to establish Channel 2 as a Northern Arizona television station and in that regard the maximum power transmission will fulfill the technical ambitions, and shortly the station will announce a change in its call letters from KOAITV to KNAZ-TV which will indicate its desire to be of service to all of Northern Arizona, a spokesman said. Visiting Professor To Speak at Lowell Dr. Gregory O. Boeshaar, Seattle University, Washington, will be the featured speaker Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Lowell Observatory Planetary Research Center Library on Mars Hill.

Boeshaar will discuss two giant II regions in the sky and the mechanism responsible for star formation in those regions. One such region is known to astronomers as NGC 3603 and is located within the Milky Way. The second region Boeshaar will discuss is found in the Large Magellanic Cloud of the southern hemisphere and is called the Tarantula Nebula. Boeshaar said the Orion Nebula is a good example of an II region that is visible to the unaided eye. "Typically, such a region is seen as a cloud of gas with very hot, main sequence stars in the center.

The gas surrounding the stars in the Orion Nebula is probably 20.000 degrees Fahrenheit," he said. Boeshaar said the star-forming II regions were generated either by remnants of a supernova or by a gentle wave from the gases that move outward from other II regions i into the interstellar medium. Boeshaar received his Ph.D., in astronomy, from Ohio State University, Columbus, in 1977. His research centers on the composition, structure and evolution of gaseous nebulae and galaxies. He conducts his observations at Kitt Peak National Observatory, Tucson, National Radio Astronomy Observatory, Greenbank, W.V..

Cerro Tololo Observatory, Chile, and at the Lowell Observatory. All Lowell Observatory colloquia are free and public attendance is encouraged. It should be noted, however, that Boeshaar's discussion is expected to be technical in nature.
