June 29, 1970 Stof I bidney Center boy edges brother in soap finals Jeffrey Kirby of Sidney Center beat-out bis biother Tim, 13, Saturday to win iiie Onwnla Soap Box Derby on Ravine Parkway in his blue-stream-lined racer. Besides winning a trophy and a $500 savings bond from Chevrolet, Jeff earned the right to compete in the international derby August 15 in Akron, Ohio. From the moment the derby began at 9 a.m., Jell and his brother Tim were in tight rivalry. In the Division," Jclf defeated Tom Lettis, son of Oneonta Mayor James Lettis.
