8 The SUN, Flagstaff. Arizona, Sunday. August 12, 1979 Accident Victim Remains in Hospital finding one of her headlights broken, returned to the scene to see what she had hit. Tomerlin said in his report that upon discovering she had hit a person, Ms. Carroll again left the scene, returning to her home in Mountainaire.

She came back a short time later with her boyfriend, the report states, but by that time aid had been summoned for the victim. Ms. Bush was transported to the hospital by Flagstaff Ambulance Company. westbound car as it passed another vehicle that had pulled off the roadway. The vehicle which had pulled off reportedly was driven by a friend of the victim, who had stopped to offer her a ride.

The driver of the second car, Janice Ellen Carroll, 24, a Mountainaire resident, reportedly told Coconino County Deputy Dennis Tomerlin she didn't see anyone as she maneuvered to avoid the other vehicle. Ms. Carroll reportedly told Tomerlin she felt a thump, stopped a short distance down the road and, Sharron Bush, 17, Pinewood, remained hospitalized in satisfactory condition at Flagstaff Hospital Saturday following a Tuesday night traffic accident on Mormon Lake Road. A hospital spokesman said Ms. Bush suffered multiple abrasions and a fractured left leg.

According to a report released late Friday afternoon by the Coconino County Sheriffs Department, Ms. Bush, who was walking home from the North Lodge about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, was struck by a Ohio Girl Wins Crown ATLANTA (UPI) An 18-year-old straight-A student from Mansfield, Ohio, was selected Friday night as the new Miss National Teenager for 1980 at the eighth annual pageant in Atlanta. Miss Bradley, who was named valedictorian of her 1979 graduating class at Mansfield Christian High School, succeeds Barrie Burnette of Gallatin, Tenn. The first runner-up was Elizabeth Ruyak of Hudson. Wis. The other finalists were Allison Gnsso of Columbia, S.C.; Geanme Faulkner of Glendale, and Cynthia Baca of Los Lunas, N.M.

For the first time, the congeniality award was shared by two of the 52 entrants, Maribeth Cox of Newark, and Kari Baar of Dickinson, N.D. The new Miss National Teenager receives a number of scholarships, personal appearance contracts. an automobile and other awards. Bernard Rogers, the Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, on NATO and SALT II problems. During its sessions, the U.S. delegation met with Turkish military and political leaders. Turkish approval of United States U-2 flights is one key to verification of Soviet SALT II compliance. NATO leaders are also relying on Turkish participation to protect NATOs southern flank which is considered extremely vulnerable to Soviet attack.

Following his return to Arizona, Stump will be meeting with constitutents in his district office in Phoenix and also throughout western Maricopa County. During the week of Aug. 20, the congressman will be making a personal inspection of the area between Sedona and Flagstaff which is being studied by the National Park Service as a potential national monument. He will also view wilderness areas and other problems currently under study by federal agencies. PHOENIX Sherry Lynn Ralston, 19, died at home at 3122 N. 37th Phoenix, Aug. 8. She was born in Flagstaff, Oct. 27, 1959.

She had worked as a receptionist in a doctors office in Phoenix prior to her death. Miss Ralston is survived by her father, James Ralston, Klamath Falls, and her mother, Esta Lee Kincheloe, Rosston, Ark. She is also survived by Northern Arizona University will host the second annual American Indian Education Conference at the South Academic Center Activity Center Wednesday-Friday, Sept. 12-14. The conference is dedicated to providing an opportunity for American Indians to express and exchange ideas, concepts and products essential to the development of knowledge and skills related to American Indian governance and prosperity, explains Mae Benally, conference coordinator.

The three-day conference will include guest speakers and group leaders from Arizona, Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah and Washington, D.C., who will develop the theme Human Resource Development for the American Indian. Last years Conference was attended by 276 perople. Those interested in pre-registering for the conference may attend the entire conference, including the Wednesday evening banquet, for $40. Registration is also available at a daily rate of $22. Students may register for per day.

The conference is co-sponsored by the Northern Arizona University College of Education, Dine Teacher Corps Project and the American Indian Education Training Resource Center at University of New Mexico.
