(UPI) David MacPherson recalls the summer of 1955, the summer he waited all night outside Disneyland to be the first visitor at the amusement parks grand opening the next day. MacPherson paid for ticket No. 1 back on July 18, 1955, as a 22-year-old Long Beach State College student.

Disneyland in Anaheim, began its 25th anniversary Thursday, which MacPherson said came a day early since it did not officially open to the public until July 18. He said he decided not to attend the 25th celebration because he had been there last November, and also because he and his wife plan a vacation next month to Alaska to write about the modern day gold rush. MacPherson, now a reporter for KTRO-FM and KCLO-AM in Leavenworth, and a writer, lives in Liberty, Mo. He said he arrived at Disneyland about midnight June 17, 1955, and was the only person there. He said by dawn there were 6,000 people in line and about bought tickets the first day.

MacPherson said Thursday he wanted to set the record straight. While Walt Disney picked two children back in the line to go into the amusement park free, it was David MacPherson who bought the first ticket. Disneyland 25 Years Old ANAHEIM, Calif. The park celebrated with a 25-hour party Thursday, featuring speeches by Davey Crockett and several of the original Mousketeers, a sky full of balloons, dancing cartoon characters and a big parade.

Fess Parker, who played Crockett on Disneys early television series, spokg. as did four of the original Mousketeers from Disneys Mickey Mouse Club.
