Gilbert Shenandoah, a retired Shenandoah police officer, passed away unexpectedly Thursday afternoon at his residence. Born in Shenandoah, May 3, 1944, he was a son of Anna Milus Uholick, Frackville, and the late John "Abe" Uholick. Jack was a 1961 graduate of J.W Cooper High School, Shenandoah, and Goldey-Bea-com College, Wilmington, Del. Upon graduation from college, he worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. He then worked for the Shenandoah Police Department, retiring with almost 30 years of service.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and had once served as president for the VP (Vice Presidents) Midget Football League of Shenandoah. He was an avid fan of baseball and football. His sense of humor was well-known to his family and friends. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, the former Carol Ringo; a son, Gary J. Uholick and his wife, Beth, Shenandoah; a daughter, Renee wife of James Magdeburg Auburn; two grandsons, Jimmy and Joshua Magde- Mary E.

Weber September 21, 2006 Mary E. Capko Weber, 75, of East Mines, Pottsville, died Thursday at York Terrace Nursing Home, Pottsville. Born in Saint Clair, Dec. 7, 1930, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Mikoli Capko. She was a sales clerk at Value City She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Saint Clair, and the Slovak Society with the church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Weber, in 1986; a sister, Pauline; two brothers, John and Joseph. She was the last of her immediate family She is survived by a niece, Constance Hale, Saint Clair, who was her caregiver; server-al nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Immaculate Conception Church.

Rose M. Polon September 20, 2006 Rose M. Polon, 57, of Pottsville, died Wednesday afternoon at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center. Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late Emerick and Margaret Miller Kodak. She attended Saint Clair schools and was a homemaker.

She was of the Catholic faith. Surviving are two daughters, Denise Barnes, wife of Earl, Saint Clair, and Kimberly Kauffman, Harrisburg; a son, John, Georgia; four grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Mac-Nutt, Pottsville; an aunt, Matilda Everett, Georgia; a cousin, Harry Dolfinger, N.J.; two nieces, Katherine MacNutt, Pottsville, and Donna Lash, Saint Clair; a great-nephew, Monty Lash Saint Clair. Anna Charowsky September 22, 2006 Anna Bobrick Charowsky, 88, of Forestville, died Friday at Schuylkill Center.

Born in Heckscherville, Jan. 1, 1918, she was a daughter of the late George and Anastasia Sesock Bobrick. She was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, the Women's Sodality and Forestville Fire Company Auxiliary She was preceded in death by her husband, Vladimir Walter Charowsky; four brothers; three sisters; a great-grandson. Surviving are three daughters, Cecelia Caulfield, Knox-ville, Patricia Scharock-man, Oak Hill, and Virginia Hoover, Schuylkill Haven; three sons, Walter Charowsky, Newark, Myron Charowsky, Minersville, and Charles Charowsky, New York City; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home, 104 S. Fourth Minersville. Requiem Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St.

Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Michael Hutsko officiating. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 7 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home, with Parastas at 6 p.m.

Joseph J. Mizzer September 20, 2006 Joseph J. Mizzer, 78, a longtime resident of San Pedro and Long Beach, passed away Wednesday He was born in Pennsylvania, Jan. 19, 1928. Surviving are daughters, Karen E.

Richardson and Christi M. Marrick; grandsons, James M. Bulis, Jack D. Bulis and Steven J. Marrick; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine Smerico and Irene Mizzer.

Hoffman September 22, 2006 Marian Alice Hoffman, 78, of Hegins, died Friday at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Hegins, Nov. 23, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Howard C. and Myrtle Minnich Stutzman. She was a 1945 graduate of Hegins Township High School.

She retired as a flood lady for the former Philmark Manufacturing Company, Valley View. She was a member of Frie-dens United Church of Christ, Hegins. Her husband, William R. Hoffman, died in 2001. Surviving are three daughters, Cynthia, wife of Ed Stutzman, Dauphin, Linda, wife of Glenn Stahl, Colleg-eville, and Robyn, wife of William Geist, Reading; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Stutzman, Hegins, and Wayne "Capper" Stutzman, Hegins; a sister, Ruby Tobias, Tremont.

Louise F. Hawranick September 22, 2006 Louise F. Hawranick, 73, of 751 W. Pine Englewood, Frackville, died Friday morning shortly after arrival at Saint Catherine Medical Center, Fountain Springs. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Thomas M.

Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville. Joe Glazer, singer-songwriter rallied unions John and Mary Lubin-sky Krizno. He was a 1938 graduate of Blythe Township High School. Jesse served his country during World War II in the Army On Nov. 27, 1952, he married the former Elizabeth "Betty" Manzo, who survives.

Prior to his retirement in 1982, he was employed as a master mechanic for Exxon Chemical Company He was a member of St. Joseph Church, Pottsville, and the American Legion in Cumbola. Danny Flores, made big song HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) Danny Flores, who played the saxophone and shouted the word "tequila!" in the 1950s hit song died Tuesday He was 77. Flores, who lived in Westminster, died at Huntington Beach Hospital, said hospital spokeswoman Kathleen Curran. He died of complications from pneumonia, the Long Beach Press-Telegram reported. In 1957, Flores was in a group that recorded some work with rockabilly singer Dave Burgess.

One of the songs was based on a nameless riff Flores had written. He played the "dirty" saxophone part and repeatedly growled the single-word lyric: "Tequila!" "Tequila!" went to No. 1 on the Billboard chart and won a Grammy in 1959 for best rhythm and blues performance. Flores continued to play it for the next 40 years. Glazer, often called Labor's Troubadour, sang songs of solidarity on picket lines and union halls in almost every state. He also performed for many liberal politicians; in 1980, President Jimmy Carter invited him to play at the White House. He recorded more than 30 albums, wrote a book about labor music, recorded the songs of others and helped recruit a new generation of protest singers.
