ARIZONA DAILY SUN, Flagstaff, Arizona, Wednesday, September 27, 19953 Christian network buys Channel 13 Community News By DAILY SUN STAFF After four years of broadcasting in Flagstaff, Channel 13 has been purchased by a Christian television network. Station Programming Director Bob Cunningham said the $1.4 million sale was announced Monday. Pending approval by the Federal Communication Commission, The Christian Network, is expected to take over KWBF-TV in late December or early January. Cunningham said he does not know what changes will be made to the programming. The station currently broadcasts classic movies and standard syndicated programs, such as The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Full House.

Officials at the Christian Network could not be reached for comment this morning. KWBF lost broadcasting rights of a few shows, including Highlander, Lonesome Dove" and Bay watch, to Phoenix stations this season. Flagstaff stations are part of the Phoenix broadcasting market and compete with stations in the Valley for programming, but Cunningham said the sale was not related to the program losses. He said the stations owner. Dr.

Michael Gelfand of Bethesda, did what he could, but he had other things going on. He wasnt able to support television the way he thought he should, Cunningham said. It was just a matter of economics to him. Gelfand, who could not be reached for comment, also owns a station in Lebanon, Ore. Cunningham said it is unclear what personnel changes will be made immediately, but said he expects some changes to be made gradually.

The station also is likely to get upgraded equipment from the new network, he said. The Christian Network owns several other television stations across the country, including one ABC affiliate. The rest are independent stations, Cunningham said. Driver called hero in bus collision No lottery grand prize winners WELLTON, Ariz. (AP) A school bus drivers quick action is credited with saving lives in a collision with a dump truck. One student was killed and four others were seriously injured Tuesday when an Antelope Valley High School bus collided with a truck that was loaded with boulders.

Leona Farnsworth, a part-time bus driver, saw the truck coming and reacted quickly enough to keep the bus from being broadsided, though the truck did shear off part of the drivers side of the bus, Yuma County sheriffs investigators said. She floored the bus to get out of the way, Capt. Mark Westgate said. If it hadnt been for her, we would have had many more victims. The trucks brakes apparently malfunctioned and the truck collided with the bus as the bus carrying 29 people turned at an intersection.

The truck landed on top of the rear of the bus, and the load of rocks spilled inside. Rescuers had to use cranes to remove the truck. Westgate said the truck driver, Chad Ramsour, 23, tried to jam the gears to slow down, and then he swung a little to the right, away from the bus. Brian Cardenas, 14, of Wellton was killed when he was pinned under the rocks in the back of the bus. Officials at the Yuma Regional Medical Center said 25 people were admitted to their facility after the accident, including the two drivers.

All but four were treated and released, said hospital spokesman Robert Olsen. Jennifer Inman, Star Inman and David Martinez were listed in serious condition. Carlos Martinez was flown to Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix. A mirror on one side of the truck ripped through much of one side of the bus, hitting some students, before the truck overturned onto the bus, said Ron Fruchey, a volunteer firefighter in the Wellton area. Officials at Antelope Union said Players with all five numbers win $50,000 grand prizes.

Tickets with four numbers are worth $500, while those with three numbers aie worth $5, and there were 29 of the former and 1,140 of the latter in Tuesdays drawing. PHOENIX (AP) None of the tickets sold for Tuesday nights drawing of the Arizona Lotterys Fantasy 5 game matched all five numbers that were drawn. Those numbers were: 2-8-24-25-29. John T.
