Dr. John Redd, center, founder of the Upward Bound program at Montclair State College and St. Peter' College, receives the Lincoln High School Hall of Fame award. Vfith Dr. Redd, a Verona resident are Warren Nelson, a junior at Lincoln, and Maria Marlines, Assistant director of Upward Bound.

The program, founded by Dr. Redd 18 years ago, is designed to assist disadvantaged high school students in gaining college admission or post-secondary training. Phoenix Represented In Garden State Games JUST NAMED-Former Montclair State College ace backcourt player Fred Hill Jr. of Verona has been named as an assistant coach under John Carpenter at Rider Col-' lege, it was announced this week. Hill, the son of MSC head football and baseball Fred Hill, led the Indians to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals his senior year in 1981.

Last year he served as an assistant coach under bis uncle, Brian Hill, at Lehigh University. Brian has moved on to become an assistant at Penn State- state funds has been allocated to get the games started.
