10 The SUN, Flagstaff. Arizona Thursday. November 6, 1969 Section A Students Honored Forestry Dean To Keynote Convocation formed outstanding services for the community, state or nation since leaving NAU. Recognition of outstanding students will be made by various members of the NAU faculty. Dr.

Elinor Clemons Kyte will announce the elections to Sigma Epsilon Sigma, freshman women's scholastic, andDr. Arthur Mansure will announce new members of Phi Eta Sigma, freshman mens scholastic honorary. Freshman, sophomore and junior scholars will be announced by Dr. Lewis McDonald, Dr. Gordon Foster and Dr.

Virgil W. Gillenwater, respectively. Dr. George Morrison will name the new selections for Phi Beta Phi, national honorary for junior and senior scholars. Recognized as highest ranking scholars in the sophomore class will be Laura Stamm, Prescott; Roger D.

Works, Fort Defiance; Susan Rae Case, Waterloo, Iowa; in the junior class Jean Ray Bullpitt, Prescott, and Diana Platt, Flagstaff; and in the senior class Joseph Covey, Tucson, and Jo Allyn Miller, Scottsdale. Presentations to these scholars will be made by Dr. Author Hughes. Honoring students receiving academic recognition at entrance will beDr.MiltonSchroe-der, while the honors council awards will be given by Dr. Thomas Wenztrand.

and Mrs. Don Peebles Dr. Charles 0. Minor, dean at the School of Forestry at Northern Arizona University, will be the featured speaker at the Honors Convocation on Mom and Dads Day, Nov. 8, in the University Union auditorium.

The forestry dean will speak on the subject Resource Conservation. Recognition of outstanding NAU students in all classes will be the theme of the convocation with top-ranking scholars being identified for their achievements. Minor came to Northern Arizona University as head of the new department of forestry in 1958, coming to Flagstaff from Clemson College, S. where he taught forest management, mensuration, and aerial photo interpretation. Previous to going to Clemson he had worked for several lumber companies in Arizona and Texas, been on the faculty of the School of Fores-try at Louisiana State University, and been employed by private companies and the U.

S. Government. Minor recived his bachelor of science degree in forestry from Iowa State College, his masters and doctors, both in forestry, from Djke University. He was chosen by his colleagues atNAU to present the address at the Honors Convocation, which is a signal honor for a member of the NAU faculty each year. He will be introduced by Dr.

Kenneth Bean, chairman of the NAU faculty. Also featured on the program will be the presentation by NAU President J. Lawrence Walkup of the Distinguished Service Award to Brig. Gen. Don Rue Hickman, 1941 graduate of the Flagstaff institution who is now deputy chief of staff for personnel at the headquarters of the U.

S. Army Continental Command at Fort Monroe, Va.
