YESTERDAY'S RESULTS. Pittsburg, Aug. 6. The accusation made by Francis Feehan. district president of the United Aline Workers of America, that Thomas L.

Lewis, national president of the organization, had a private agreement with a local coal company which made it easy for him to settle the recent trouble between the miners and the company, will likely result In the resignation of either Mr. Lewis or Mr. Feenan from his presidency. "If suCh a thing were true, I would resign in 24 hours, and If It Is not true Feehan should resign," said Mr. Lewis when he heard the charge.

A committee from the miners' organization has been appointed to investigate the matter. The coal company denies the charge. and emote his delivery hard and oi'ien with the result that when hostilities ceased in this round the lead the visitors had, had been overcome and the score board read 4 4. It has connection with the Pniladelphia and Easton Railway, a trolley line from Doylestown to Easton, and it is interesting to note that this line has In its charter a clause allowing a change to steam locomotion. It. is not known, nor so far conjectured by outsiders, how the Lackawanna would get into Philadelphia and reports are short on this end and also as to where the lower terminus would be located. The company officials have long held the opinion that their line was not getting its share of eastern Pennsylvania ton nage. Whether the report be groundless or not.

it is interesting to note that there would certainly be a stimulus to competition along all lines entering Philadelphia, if it should be carried out. A general revival of work In the Lehigh Valley freight car shops at Sayre, with the hours increased to 60 per week and a call for all the expert car builders obtainable is the programme at the present time. The company has been planning this work for a long time, but owing to inability to get material it has been delayed. Now the material is coming in and by the middle of August everything will be in readiness to rush the Sayre shops to their fullest capacity. It is the intention of the company to place all its freight ears in first class condition so that they will be ready for hard service when required, and cars are being taken from Jersey City to Sayre for repairs.
