LINEUP LEAGUE Its a symbol of Arizona, the saguaro a giant cactus that stands tall across the Arizona landscape. We've adopted its blooming flower as our state flower. The saguaro says Arizona through and through. And thats why the new Arizona Fall League's Phoenix baseball team has chosen to associate itself with this Arizona landmark. What better name for a new hometown baseball team than one that borrows the image of a hometown landmark.

Introducing the Phoenix Saguaros! STADIUM Phoenix Municipal Stadium is the winter home of the American Leagues Oakland As, and now the Arizona Fall Leagues Phoenix Saguaros. The Phoenix Municipal Stadium was built in 1966 and seats 8,500 fans. The field itself measures 345 feet down the foul lines, 390 feet to the power alleys, and 410 feet to straight-away centerfield. Few ballplayers have ever hit shots that have cleared the imposing centerfield wall. This fall, quench your thirst for sporting excitement.

Come on out to the Phoenix Municipal Stadium and witness the birth of a new ballclub the Phoenix Saguaros. Phoenix Municipal Stadium is located near the financial center of downtown Phoenix, and a few minutes away from Tempe and Arizona State University. Now sit back and enjoy baseball at its best. Batter up! GREETINGS FROM THE MAYOR Play Ball! As Mayor of the City of Phoenix and a dedicated baseball fan, I am pleased to have Major League Baseball back in the Valley for the new Arizona Fall League. So sit back, relax, and get ready for America's favorite pastime.

Its exciting; its competitive; its entertaining. And its ours. Paul Johnson, Mayor of Phoenix. STAFF Manager: Scott Ullger-Portland (Twins). Pitching Coach: Oscar Acosta-Oklahoma City (Rangers).

Coach: Mitchell Page-Tacoma (Athletics). Trainer: Darren London (Yankees). Trainer: Mike Sandoval-Buffalo (Pirates). Did You That before 1920, it was legal for pitchers to throw a spitball? It was also decided in 1920 that clean baseballs, which are livelier, should be used throughout the game. These two rules kept a home run hitter like Babe Ruth from having an average career.
