4 ARIZONA DAILY SUN, Flagstaff, Arizona, Friday, July 3, 1992 poetry. Eighth-graders, for example, did poorly in analyzing and comparing equations. The average score was 9.8 points out of a possible 23. Something as simple as this should be second nature to our students, Bishop said. We are not doing our job of teaching this concept to our students." High-school seniors didnt fare-much better at applying statistical information.

Chandler holds a bachelor of arts degree in hotel and restaurant administration from Washington State University, and brings with him many years of experience in the field. A resident of Flagstaff for the past two years, Chandler is a member of Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce, Flagstaff Rotary Club, Northern Arizona University Skyjacks and Pine Country Pro Rodeo Committee.

He also is serving as the small retail division chairman for the 1992-93 United Way campaign. Restructuring of its ownership and of the senior management of Grand Canyon Television Company Inc. has been announced by W.A. Frankc, Phoenix, on behalf of the newly controlling GCTV Shareholders. Both of the companys television stations, KNAZ, Flagstaff, and KMOH, Kingman, have been operated by a court-appointed receiver for about one year while the restructuring took place.

Although the need for the appointment of a receiver was awkward for the shareholders and staffs of the stations, progress has been made during this time, Frankc said. We commend those responsible at the station level and express our thanks to the communities we serve for their support. We believe this restructuring will accelerate the progress at the stations. Announcing station level changes, Franke said: We are very pleased to have located a broadcaster with considerable experience in television management who will assume general manager responsibilities for both stations. Dan Robbins, most recently general manager of the NBC affiliate in Midland-Odcssa, Texas, has a high energy level and a can do attitude.

We believe his contributions to the stations will be felt immediately. Robbins said his decision to accept the Grand Canyon Television position was influenced by the challenge and opportunities presented by the stations and by the quality of life in northern Arizona and its similarities to his native Boulder, Colo. He and his wife, Gina, and three children have relocated to Flagstaff. OFFMFG. 'O LIST PRICE Meade 2080B List 2, 1 38 BSALE PRICED, 239 NX I EssicC8-List'L9E mpmnM SEDONA TELESCOPE CENTER 1439 W.

Homing, who escaped from the Arizona State Prison in Florence on May 12, showed up in Grand Canyon Village last Friday after having kidnapped a man and a woman in Flagstaff a day earlier. After a failed attempt to also kidnap a family with a camper in the village Friday evening, park rangers chased Homing before he managed to get away. Homing fired several shots while being followed, one of which hit a park rangers car. Homing is carrying a .44 caliber handgun and is considered very dangerous, police said. A note found in the woods and a cassette tape left in the car Homing had hijacked in Flagstaff indicated that the California man intended to kidnap a total of six people.

The victims would be swapped for the fugitives freedom, $1 mil-lion in ransom and the release of Homings older brother Jerry, who is serving time in Florence for sexual conduct with a minor. Homing was serving four life terms for an armed Winslow robbery and is also a suspect in a California murder. Park spokesman Jim Tuck said police will continue closing parts of the parks today if sightings are reported. The east rim between Highway 64 and Desert View Point remains closed, as does the west rim west of Grand Canyon Village. There will be temporary closures whenever a serious sighting is made, he said.
