It ifs understood that the owner of the property at the southwesterly side of Brookfield road; and the northwesterly side of Valley road, which is sought by the town, applied to the supreme court for a writ of mandamus. The owner also recently applied for a permit from Building Inspector Senior to erect stores on that site. This was denied. It was announced by Commissioner Heyer that the curbing and paving of Montclair avenue was completed this week. This work was done by the Standard Bitulithic Company and a hearing to objections to work done will be held on December 22.

The paving covered a distance of 5,700 feet. Commissioner Heyer also said that he expected the completion of the new outlet sewer in Willowdale avenue by February 1. Last week the emergency pumping station was completed. By resolution introduced by Commissioner Charles G. Phillips, a sum of $28.75 for the installation of sockets and flags in front of the proposed post office site on Bloomfield avenue and Seymour, street, and the sum of $58.75 for similar work at the municipal building and at Rand Park, will be paid.

Several weeks ago it was learned that the post office department found no way in which to pay for the installation the sockets on its property. A letter from the Montclair Lions Club indorsing the proposal that the town purchase the triangular plot of ground at Claremont, Bloomfield and Prospect avenues, for park purposes, was received.
