NEW CASTLE, NEWS, MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 1939. THREE LOCAL PEOPLE SHARE PARTY CELEBRATES HER 93RD BIRTHDAY D. A. R. HEARS GUEST MISS MARGARET CASEY SPEAKER SATURDAY HONORED AT SHOWER Members of the Daughters of the American Revolution, enjoyed the hospitality extended in the home of Mr.s, John Woods.

117 East Moody avenue, Saturday afternoon, who entertained informally at the regular as.sembly. The National Defense Committee, with Mrs. Marvin Din.s- more, chairman, was charge. Especially interesting and instructive, was the talk given by Major 'Guy Wadlingcr. guest speaker.

Tea and refreshments were served as the concluding feature of the afternoon. with regent. Mrs. Wyatt R. Campbell presiding at the attractively appointed table.

Mrs. Woods was aided by the following Mrs. William Mitchell, MLss Olivia Griffiths. Miss Margaret Heasley, Mrs. Harry D.

Horner, Miss Genevieve Houston. MLss Viola Wallace and Mrs. S. A. Weinschenk.

Necdlecraft Club Change The postponed meeting of the West Side Needlecraft club, will take place Tuesday evening, in the home i of Mrs. Joe Perkins, South Lee ave- nue. It was previously planned for the coming week. B. And O.

Groups B. and O. Veterans and Auxiliary will meet in the Legion Home on Wednesday evening. There will be a tureen dinner at 6 Honoring Miss Margaret Casey, who will become the bride of Paul Carrigan of Wallace avenue some time in April, Miss Mary Marsic entertained at a lovely shower Saturday evening in her home at 109 East street. The guest li.st composed nurses of the New Castle hospital, and the pastime was found in several tables of bingo.

Top awards went to Irene Jinks and Victoria Skenesky. A delicious lunch was served, buffet style, as the next feature, the nuptial motive predominating throughout in the appointments. Miss Frances Wallas aided the hostess. Climaxing festivities, Miss Casey was presented with a number of beautiful and serviceable gifts of a miscellaneous nature for her future home. Miss Casey, whose home is at Smith Ferry, is a member of the nurses staff of the local hospital.

Friends and relatives here of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Harris of McKeesport were week-end guests at the Harris home. On Saturday Mrs. Harris entertained at a lovely party in honor of her birthday anniversary.

Guests also present from McKeesport. After diversified entertainment a dainty lunch was served. The received many lovely gifts in remembrance of the time, and also received a huge Wrthday cake, made by his sister-in-law, Thelma Ayers, of this city. Those attending from here were Mr. and Mrs.

The bride is a member of the Junior class of the Michigan liberal Arts School. Mr. Chemerda is a graduate of Penn State, class of and is now' at the University of Michigan, as Teaching Fellow' in the Department of Chemistry. He will receive a Ph. D.

degree in June. Hs is also affiliated with the Gamma Alpha. Phi Lambda Upsilon and Phi Kappa Phi fraternities. Mrs. Mary E.

Loyd of 412 Euclid avenue is today quietly observing the 93rd anniversary of her birthday. She resides with her daughter, Mrs. Joseph Heitzman. Mrs. Loyd was born in Middleton, and came to this city with her I parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Peter Nicely, I w'hen but a little girl. She was married in this city 72 years ago to William F. Loyd, soon after his return from the Civil war, at its termination. Mr.

Loyd died 40 years ago. Mrs. Loyd is the last of ten children. She is the oldest member of the First Baptist church, and the G. A.

R. Ladies. Her grandmother, on her side, lived to the age of 101. Mrs. Loyd is in gcod health, active and is able to help her daughter do the house work.

She well remembers returning from the Civil war, and the great welcome given them as they marched from the railroad station, among them being she being girl he left Besides Mrs. Heitzman, there are four other C. Loyd, of California, formerly manager of Gary, tin plant; Dr. S. J.

Lunch was a lator pleasure, served by the hostess. Mrs. O. L. Rhodes was honored at a lovely dinner party Saturday evening when relatives and friends as- at her home on Beckford street to honor her 70th birthday anniversary.
