Several from here attended Methodist Protestant conference at Emhouse last Wednesday. Herman Kelly, Shivers, and Bill Thompson were licensed to jireach.

The Black Hills school will open October 4th with Prof. Laden and Miss Rutherford as teachers. The Sunday School and prayer meeting are progressing nicely. Mrs. C.

W. Mllburn and Miss Dollie Thompson were elected teachers to fill vacancies cause by Drewey Champion and Miss Belle Clemmer having left the community. Miss Belle Clemmens is visiting her sister, Mrs. Daisy Wright at Eagle Pass. Rev.

Dr. Mauldin Smith, formerly of Corsicana, but now practicing his profession in an Arkanses town near Memphis, had an auto accident a few days ago. A paper published In his town gives this account of the accident: Dr. M. Smith met with a painful, and what came near terminating in a serious accident Monday while returning from a professional call.

The motor oar on which he was riding collided with a box car, which was left standing on the main line. The doctor did not see the car in time to avoid a collision as he was traveling at a lively clip. The box car however, according to all accounts was stand ing perfectly still. In the sinash-up which resulted, the doctor received a painful injury to his right knee. He is improving slowly at this writing and expects to be out on the streets to greet his friends by the last of the week.
