The parole was obtained when it was found that Pestowits was suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis and could not Iks properly treated for the disease while in jail. Ryer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. 1 F. Ryer. who resides a short distance west of the city on the Lincoln Highway, was this morning admitted to the St.

Joseph county bar before Circuit Court Judge Walter A. Funk. Miss Ryer who is but -2 years of age. bears the unusual distinction of being the only woman who has thus far been admitted to the St. Joseph county bar -by examination for the express purpose of entering active practice in the courts.

Several other women are now members of the bar but are not engaged in active practice, confining their work to office routine. Miss Ryer is a graduate of St. Agnes academy. Kansas ity. of South' Bend High school; Roosevelt hall.

Nazareth academy, Kalamazoo. and is the only woman ever admitted to the law school of the University of Notre Dame, at which institution she has been a student for the past year, and is enrolled for the bachelor of law degree. She has been a law clerk in the law offices of Frank H. Dunnahoe for the last two and one-half years. She will be the junior member of Poincaxe, prime minister, and M.
