Dr. Gregory was placed on the stand hy the defense, after listening to all the testimony in the case, to give his opinion concerning the sanity of the applicant, and was kept there for over two hours. He was to a rigid cross examination hy the State, and repeatedly asked If a man who has transacted written sensible letters and otherwise conducted himself as was to by the witnesses, was of unsound mind. The substance of his replies wa.s that an insane man might act as a sane man In practically everything e.xcept the one point on which he Is insane. The doctor was strongly questioned by the Slate, and after the noon adjournment, the argument began, as Hilyard a bright young hoy of some fifteen or sixteen years of age, went to Detroit, to represent the Boys of Woodcraft, and was ejected a page for the Sovereign Head Camp, thus getting his expenses paid.
