To the Editor of the South Band Tribuni. A park in a city always attracts stran-; gers and visitors, and the taste liberality and public spirit of its citizens' is usually shown in the adornment and decoration of the grouuds by making them pleasing to the eye as jvell as place for rest, comfort and enjoyment A park is peculiarly a democratic' institution, where the poor and the rich can mingle on common ground, and each' enjoy its benefits. For the tired and worn laborer and women and Utile! children a park is a perpetual source of delight. Our citizens rejoice that we are to have a park and that the work is progressing toward that i A suggestion is made which finds favor with all citizens, that: the city fathers now have trees planted on the ridge along the river bank, so that when the park is made ready by filling up, a handsome row of shade trees will skirt the river bank, under which seats can be placed, so that the publicj can at once begin to enjoy it. The trees will cost but little, and by the time the park' is ready will begin to afford shade, and the thanks of the public will certainly be given the council for their foresight in the matter.
