By this time the unusual light had been discovered by the neighbors, who sounded an alarm and ruined to the rescue.

Mr. Ch as. Watts, section on the C. L. H.

railroad, wa the first to reach the! hiuse and thundered at the kitchen door for admission. The door had been, locked and the key removed to permit the insertion of Mr. night key, when he should return from down: town, The brave girl called out to Mr. Watts to wait until she got the key, but 'realizing the necessity of iumediate action he burst the door in and taking off his coat, threw it around Miss Wheeler then directed him to get a quilt off the bed, in an adjoining room, which he procured and wrapped about her, extinguishing the flame; What remained of the poor girl's clothing was then removed by the ladies who had come in, and she was placed in where Bhe was soon after seen and attended by Drs. Flory and Partridge.

A. H. Wheeler, at 7 o'clock, this morning, and the peaceful soul passed from the tortured body into the world beyond, after almost a month of such suffering and trial as seldom falls to human lot. 1 The sutjoct of this notice was born in Kendall ville, this state," May 10th, 1861, and consequently jwas seventeen years old but a few days after the terrible accident that caused her death, which; occurred on May 6th, or four-weeks ago to-night. She wan from infancy a bright, amiable and dutiful child, the only one with which this now Btricken home was blessed, and as she grew into, the lovely womanhood which waa just about to crown her when called to that higher state beyond the ymdaries of time, her graces of mind and heart developed and made theJi-selvea manifest in her daily walk and conduct.

Truly it may be' said of her that "none knew her but to love none could know her and not admire the sweetness of her disposition, the kindly impulses of her heart, and the purity and innocence rof her thoughts. The presence' of 'mind displayed in her moment of danger, the patience, fortitude and thought for others exercised in her day a of Buffering, plainly delineate the nobility of her character. She was a member of Mr. class in. the Firat.

Presbyterian church Sunday echool and very devoted to the Bchool and the study of the scriptures. Her former teacher, Mrs. S. remarked of her she never had a brighter and more appreciative pupil. And while Ishe lay on her bed of pain and suffering untold, this beautiful appreciation of re ligious Bentiments was displayed in her almost constant desire to hear and' the soothing effect of the gospel; hymns, sung to her by the friends, and in which she often! joined.

Especially pleasing to her were the hymns "Nearer, my God, to thee," "Rock of agea," 'The home over there," and when suffering most keenly, "How tedious and tasteless the hours." Naturally, had many friends, especially among her schoolmates, but though fond of their society and its enjoyments she ever seemed to find her greatest pleasure in the company of her parents at home. All through the long month that passed before the cooling hand of death was laid upon her burned and blistered body; i ike was keenly alive to everything that was going on about her, to the dressing of: her wounds, to the conversation of her friends, and seemed always regretful of the trouble she wa causing those around her. There was but little hope of her recovery from the first, even in her own mind, arid she bowed to the inevitable with humility and patience, even expressing anxiety to go 'now. i By the middle of last week she had declined so that consciousness left her, and until yesterday morning, when Bhe again opened her eyes to a full realization of her surroundings, she lay in a comatose She could talk a little then, and her last I words were addressed to her father urging him to a higher and better life. After that the power of artic- ulation left her, but to the last! she recognized all who had gathered around her bedside.

She was a pupil of the city High where for zeal and progress in her studies she stood among the highest, and would have graduated with high honors in the class of '80. Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler feel more grateful than can be expressed in language tb the many kind friends who came to their assistance in the hour of their; affliction, and they desire us to expressly thank David Quay, Mr; Th(rfndyke and Mr. Will Ruthert iord for their invaluable services.

At this' time the particulars of the terrible accident which has brought about this lamentable i result will possess renewed interest, and on that account we republish the principal portion of the Tribune's report of it made at the time. "At the date above named Mrs. Wheeler and her Mattie, prepared to ascend the stairs to their chambers for the night. Eojoiningher daughter to be' careful with the lamp Mrs. Wheeler started up the stairs and had just reached the top, when the sound of breaking glass and a sudden, blinding lificht caused her to turn and look down the stairway.

There her eyes 'beheld a aight that almoet froze her blood in her veins. Enveloped in flames her, daughter had turned on the stair and was making her way to the sitting room below, i Shut off from the possibility of rendering her daughter any assistance by an impenetrable wall of flame which rolled up to the ceiling of the second floor, the agonized mother could only stand and: await the sad denounement With a presence of mind far beyond her yean Miss Wheeler seized a shawl lying near at hand and rushed into the kitchen, blazing like a funeral pyre, seized and emptied over herself two pails of water that fortunately; stood in the link, bat with no further effect STEELE PRICE'S LUPULIM YEAST CEMS.
