Muriel was predeceased by her husband, Mel, by her sister Louella Holly, by her parents, Mary and Wesley Newman Birkett, and by her sister-in-law Natalie Thompson. The daughter of Reuben and Tillie Briscoe, Joy was born In Saskatoon on February 6, 1922. She attended Bedford Road Collegiate and Saskatoon Normal School. While teaching at Blaine Lake, Joy met Albert Horner, a local farmer, and they were married In 1944, Over the next five years, five children were born. In 1958, Albert was elected MP for The Battlef ords, These were the days before air travel to and from Ottawa so he was often gone for months at a time, Joy managed the busy household with five active teenagers, Joy was a member of the Blaine Lake United Church, She served as church organist and her home was a meeting place for the Interdenominational Hi-C young people's group. She was a founding member of the William Dlehl Chapter of the IODE and a founding member of the Home and School Association.

She was the first president of the Blaine Lake Figure Skating Club, served as Chairperson of the Blaine Lake Branch of the Wapiti Regional Library and was a member of the Blaine Lake School Board. When the children left home, Joy returned to University for Early Childhood Education classes and taught kindergarten on the Muskeg Lake Reservation for ten years. When she retired, she took up ceramics and taught ceramics classes from her home. She served as a delegate to the Canadian Ceramics Association. Joy was always one of the first to reach out to new people In the community, At her home, the coffeepot was always on and she was never too busy to stop what she was doing to have a visit.

In 1995, Joy suffered a stroke from which she made a remarkable recovery except that her speech was left impaired. In 2002, Joy became a resident of the Wheatland Lodge In Leask. Predeceased by her parents, her brother, Ted, In 1942, and her only son Jonn, In 1992, Joy is survived by her husband of 59 years, Albert Horner; her daughter-in-law, Alice Horner, Saskatoon; and her four daughters and their husbands, Maureen and Tom Barrle, Blaine Lake, Leah and Dave Sheskin, Niagra-on-the-Lake, ON, Rosemary and Dan O'Handley, Kenaston, and Colleen and George Patterson, Moose Jaw, She is also survived by her ten grandchildren: Colleen O'Handley and Andrew Kirk, Alrdrie, AB, Ryan and Diane O'Handley, Charlottetown, PEI, Patrick O'Handley, Saskatoon, Colleen (Horner) and Trevor Isley, Saskatoon, Erin (Barrie) and Darren Diehl, Blaine Lake, Megan Patterson, Toronto, Jason and Kyla Horner, Saskatoon, Tom Barrie, Saskatoon, Hugh Patterson, Regina and Michelle Horner, Saskatoon. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren: Shannon Kirk, Jenna Isley, Rachel Dlehl, Abby Kirk, Grayson Isley, William Diehl, Morris O'Handley and Jordan Isley, We will remember and miss Joy's outgoing personality, her sense of humor, her courage and determination, her beautiful smile and those dark brown eyes that could convey so much with just one look. The family would like to thank the Blaine Lake Home Care Workers and the staff of the Wheatland Lodge for their kindness and care.

ROBSON Larry Roy passed away on Sunday, December 07, 2003 following a brief, courageous battle with cancer. Larry was born on July 30, 1941 In Mllden, Saskatchewan and took his schooling In Kerrobert, Larry had a great Interest In all sports In particular tennis and golf. Larry will be remembered for his kindness, honesty, and compassion for others. Larry Is survived by his wife Eileen; daughter, Trinity, grandson, Logan Grandora; parents, Mildred and Fred Robson Kerrobert; sister, EHeen (Jock) MacNelll Meota; brother, Rae Robson Saskatoon; four nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at Kerrobert United Church on December 11 at 1:30 p.m.
