Predeceased by her parents, Walter and Nina (Howe) Chalk; her twin, Lilian (1909); her brothers, Harry and Arthur; her niece, Shirley Chalk Martin; her sisters-in-law, Jessie Caldwell LLD and Phebe (Winnie) Rowles.

Survived by her sisters-inlaw, Cynthia Chalk, Philipsburg, PQ, Lucille Chalk, Cornwall ON, Dr. Edith Simpson CM, Saskatoon; her brother-in-law, Dr. Charles Rowles, Vancouver; four nieces and seven nephews and great nieces and nephews. Especially missed by her niece, Carol Chalk Tanner, Moncton NB; and her godson, Norman Hewton, Fenelon Falls, ON. A woman before her time, Laura was the first female granted a torate in Physics by McGill.

She supported Bill in his love of teaching although denied her own permanent teaching career by University Bureaucracy. She reminded everyone of this in her feisty speech at the commemoration of Rowles House in June 1995. A fitting tribute that the MacDonald Campus Student Services Building be named for Laura and Bill whose devotion and friendship to their students legend. Always a participant, Laura was an avid talker, birder, gardener, golfer, Lac Massawippi cottager, bridge player, correspondent and curler (honorary life member, Ste. Anne De Bellevue Curling Club).

She was her McGill class agent for a record 70 years; a Red Cross volunteer for over 50 years (Ste. Anne's Veterans' Hospital) and long-time secretary of Baie D'Urfe's Bucca. Intensely proud of her heritage, Laura's autobiographical essay was published in our own agendas, McGill-Queen's Press 1995. Cremation has taken place. Interment later beside her Bill, Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon.

A Celebration of Laura's life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 1996 at 2:00 p.m. in Union United Church, 24 Maple Avenue, Ste. Anne De Bellevue, PQ followed by a reception in Adair Hall. No flowers please. A Remembrance to your favorite organization would be Laura's preference.

LEACH In loving memory of Ches Leach who left this earth on February 17, 1995. Life is like a song we write In our own tone and key, Each lite we touch reflects a note That forms the melody. We choose the theme and chorus Of the song to bear our name, And each will have a special sound, No two can be the same. When someone we love departs.

In memory we find Their song plays on within the hearts Of those they leave behind. From his loving family who have been richly blessed to have his love and guidance during his very full, rich life, his loving wife Anna, his children Linda, Connie and Gary, his cherished grandchildren, Rob, Laureen, Jon, Craig, Travis, and Jill. ZAWERTAILO In loving memory of our precious only son Brian, born September 15, 1950, Deceased, February 18, 1994. Two long, lonely and very painful years have passed. Its hard to believe we lost you With no chance to say goodbye.

Our lives will never be the same Our days are field with pain Tears till flow and so often we think Its a bad dream our Brian will soon be home. We treasure the precious memories and often name. But we never wanted memories, we only want you. The resting place we visit, put flowers with care As we turn and leave you there, our thoughts are you. Your place no one can fill In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still.

If we were granted one wish Brian We would wish you come back home Why did you leave us? Why did you have to go? The answers to these questions we do not know. We do miss you, more and more each day.
