ANNOUNCEMENTS DEATHS 1000 YULKA George Yulka of Saskatoon, SK, age 54 years, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 19, 1992 in a highway accident near Foam Lake, SK. George was born in Moose Jaw, SK on February 21. 1938. At the age of five, he was adopted by Carl and Mary Yulka of Loon Lake, SKand raised there on the family farm. In his late teens, he went to British Columbia to work in a logging camp, and it was there that his interest in trucks and trucking began.

In the fall of 1963, while home to help with the harvest, he met Karren Crane of Weyburn, SK who had arrived in Loon Lake to take her first teaching position. They were married on March 21, 1964. In July they moved to Edmonton, AB and George went back to trucking. During the next 28 years, he made several atteripts to make a living at something else, including farming at Weyburn, and later at Loon Lake. He felt it would be better for his family if he were off the road, but inevitably he ended up going back to driving a Semi.

He always said it must be in his blood. He took his driving profession very seriously and was proud of his clean, accident-free record. He always worked hard and never turned down a chance to "make miles" and add a few more dollars to his pay cheque, for his family's sake. He was a good natured, friendly man with a keen sense of humour and a ready grin. He loved the lakes and trees of the North country.

He enjoyed fishing, though he never found much time to do it. He maintained a real interest in farming, and always enjoyed times spent on the farm. George thoroughly enjoyed people; visiting with friends and family and was his pastime. He liked nothing better than a good game of cards, and would play all night if he could find someone to play with him. He was devoted to his family and took special pride in his four children and their accomplishments.

His two little grandchildren were his greatest joy. Predeceased by his father, Carl; George will be deeply and sadly missed by Karren. his loving wife of 28 years; his beloved children, Shannon of Aberdeen, Scotland, Maureen (Shawn) Joyce of Saskatoon, Erin of Saskatoon; his only sons, Lee of Victoria, BC; his grandchildren, Devon and Brianna Joyce of Saskatoon; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Alicia Crane of Weyburn: his sisters-in-law. Temperatures steady at minus 3. Lows minus 10. Wednesday, mainly cloudy, scattered flurries. Highs minus 5. Probability of precipitation, 40 per cent today and Wednesday.

SYNOPSIS A strengthening northerly flow will be the first indication of a downward trend in the temperature over the next few days. An intense winter storm heading for the Great Lakes will help to keep skies cloudy with a few flurries until mid-week. As this storm stalls over the Great Lakes and a ridge of high pressure moves eastward across the Territories winds will increase out of the north. These northerly winds will push colder air from the arctic across the province today. Subzero highs are expected for Wednesday as the high pressure system becomes established over the province.
