Ervin Mize. Betty is survived by her husband: Rev. Ervin Mize of Mishawaka; two grandsons: Gary Robinson and Kevin Robinson; three great grandchildren: Travis Robinson, Stephanie (Cody) Secor, and Maryssa Robinson. Betty is also survived by her siblings: Nyla (Dick) Moore, Tom (Cinda) Brooks, and Bob (Betty) Brooks. She was preceded in death by her sons: Donald and Chuck Robinson; sister; Nancy Rohr, and brothers: John, Bill and Dan Brooks.

Betty also leaves behind her step-children: Michael Mize, David (Sharon) Mize, Nancy (Tim) Woodhall, Steve (Kelly) Mize and Pam (Bob) Davis and many step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, December 8th in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Mishawaka from 2 until and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. A service celebrating Betty's life will be held on Monday, December 9th at in the Michiana Community Church of God, 51637 Ash Granger, with Pastor Denver Burns officiating. Burial is to follow in the Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.

Memorial contributions may be made in Betty's name to the Michiana Community Church of God, 51637 Ash Granger, Indiana 46530. i lis Shirley was born on April 21, 1935 in Denver, IN, to the late Walter and Goldie (Benedict) Losher. On December 10, 1954 in Denver, IN, Shirley married Junes P. White. Junes preceded her in death on February 17, 2008.

Shirley was also preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick Keller in 2011 and a sister, Marilla Gooch in 2006. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Jeanne (Robert) Hendricks of South Bend, IN and Lori (William) Sullivan of Granger, two grandchildren, Adam (Rachel) Sullivan of South Bend and Jamie (Danny) Hernandez of Mishawaka, IN and one great grandchild, Peyton Hernandez, two sisters, Alicia (Jerry) Garber and Carol (Ron) Erbaugh both of Peru, IN, and a brother, Richard Losher of Richvalley, IN. Also surviving is her beloved best friend Maureen Board. Shirley loved music and was very talented playing the organ and the violin. Shirley and Junes loved being at their lake in Milford spending time with their grandson Patrick, their family and many friends fishing, playing cards enjoying for many years.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 10, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where funeral services will also be on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev.

4, 1920 Dec. 3, 2013 CLERMONT Ernest L. Witham, Sr. was born Nov. 4, 1920, in Kansas City, KS to Ernest and Alice Witham.

He graduated from Niles High School and then joined the U.S. Coast Guard. While in the Coast Guard he married Pauline Kistner, having five children. After her passing, he then married Sharon Lamberg Kurowski who survives. Ernest may be remembered by many from his time worked at Kuglers with his mother and Stepfather Glen Kugler.

From there he opened up Gameland which was noted for slot car racing tracks. After leaving Niles, he lived in Indiana, Minnesota and Wisconsin before finally settling in Clermont, IN, where he opened and operated a jewelry store for many years. Survivors include his wife, Sharon; children: Terrie (Bob) Hatch, Niles, Allan (Bernadette) Witham, Virginia, Ernest Witham Niles, Glen (Christie) Witham, Red Wing MN, and Kelly (Chuck) Foster, Murfreesboro, TN; stepchildren, Deborah Kurowski, Rothschild, Wl and Tom Kurowski, Clermont, IN, along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, Richard and David Witham; and niece Morgan Witham. Preceding him in death are his parents, his brother Dale, and stepson John Kurowski. In lieu of flowers, Ernest is requesting donations be made to local Humane Societies or Pet Rescue.

1207 David R. Tydgat Dec. 29, 1946- Dec. 3, 2013 MISHAWAKA David R. Tydgat, 66, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, at 12:10 p.m.

in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. David was born on December 29, 1946, in Mishawaka, to Omer and Angela (Spart) Tydgat. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his mother- and father-in-law, Robert and Voleta Costello. On October 14, 1979, David married Mary in Defiance, OH, in her parent's home.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; daughter, Kathryn "K.C." Tydgat of Arlington, VA; a sister, Lynda (Joe) Bathje of Mishawaka; a brother-in-law, Michael E. Costello of Defiance, OH; two nieces, Stephanie (Gary) Berch and Julie (Nick) Fisette; four great-nieces, Bailey, Mackenzie and Gabriella Fisette, Victoria Berch; and one great-nephew, Nathaniel Berch. David also cherished his "little dog" Annie. David was a teacher and administrator for Penn-Harris-Madison Schools from 1972 until 2008. He was a member of Indiana Retired Teachers Association, ASCD (Association for Supervision in Curriculum Development) and the BK Club.

David received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Indiana University South Bend, his Master of Arts in English from Western Michigan University, and his Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) from Indiana University, Bloomington. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 8th, from 2 to 6 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, and one hour prior to services. Memorial services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home.

The Rev. Kevin Bauman will officiate. Cremation will take place after the service. The family would like to thank the nursing staffs of the 2nd and the 6th floor at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, the Infusion Center and 10 South at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, and also the entire staff at Michiana Hematology and Oncology.

They have been tireless teammates during David, Mary and K.C.'s more than 17-year fight with cancer. 4, 2013 NILES Terry Emmett McGovern, 72, of Niles, passed away at his son's home on Wednesday, December 4, 2013. Terry was born on March 28, 1941 to the late John and Willodean (Wallick) McGovern in South Chicago, Illinois. In June of 1961 Terry wed Barbara Schoff and together they had five children. He is preceded in death by his parents and one great grandson. He is survived by his wife Barbara; children Terry (Deborah) McGovern Jr.

Mize Oct. 20, 1927- Dec. 4, 2013 MISHAWAKA Betty S. Mize, 86, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away on Wednesday December 4, 2013, in the Hospice House of South Bend. Betty was born on October 20, 1927 in Little Rock, AR, to the late Harvey and Zelfa (Cones) Brooks.

Her father was a pastor and the family traveled often. She was the Choir Director for many of her father's churches. She graduated from the University of Kansas. Betty went on to be a lobbyist in Washington for thirty years, which meant that she was required to travel all over the world. She was proud of the fact that she once flew on Air Force One.

She was a member of the Michiana Community Church of God. Betty was very active in the church, she did book keeping at Amish Acres. She had a great love of her family and extended family and had never met a stranger. She also had a great love of cooking and was talented in many other areas. On July 15, 2000 in Lawrence Starrett Jan.

30, 1926 Dec. 4, 2013 DOWAGIAC Lawrence Starrett, 87, of Dowagiac, passed away, Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at the Timbers of Cass County in Dowagiac. The family with have a gathering for friends Saturday, December 7, 2013, from until the funeral service at at Clark Chapel Cremation Services, 405 Center Dowagiac, with Pastor Nathan Long officiating. Immediately following the service there will be Military Rites at Clark Chapel. Lawrence will then be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac.

Lawrence was born January 30, 1926 in South Bend, IN, to Alvia Rosanna (Northrop) Starrett. On August 10, 1945 he married Mary Schoff in Dowagiac. Lawrence valiantly served his country in the United States Army.

He was in the CO 41st A1 BN and earned the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Battle Stars, 1 Overseas Service Bar, Occupation Medal (Germany) and a Purple Heart Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post 563, the DAV, and the VFW Lawrence was the Chairman of the Memorial Day Parade, Commander of the American Legion Post 536 for over 30 plus years. He loved watching Gunsmoke on TV. Lawrence is survived by his seven children, Clarawayne (Donald) Wolford, of Dowagiac, Ml, Lawrence I. (Renee) Starrett, of Dowagiac, Ml, Sandra (Pete) Scowley, of Jones, Ml, Wanda (John) Wise, of Dowagiac, Ml, Florence (Kurt) Erickson, of Decatur, Ml, Mary Schonbok, of Niles, Ml, Rose (Steven) Long, of Decatur, Ml, and Robert (Companion Betty) Lesniak of Dowagiac, Ml, nineteen grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brothers Alvia and David, and his sisters Bessie, Florence, and Nina. Ardelle Kaye Downey Sept. 9, 1942 Dec. 5, 2013 BUCHANAN Ardelle Kaye Downey, 71, of Buchanan, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, IN.

Ardelle was born on September 9, 1942 to Arden and Lila Brown, in Benton Harbor, Ml. On February 14, 2002, Ardelle married Paul Downey, who survives. Ardelle is also survived by her mother, Lila Brown; one son: Dale Mills of Berrien Springs; daughters: Judith Curtis of Niles, and Diane (Gary) Dreher of Buchanan; stepsons: Cameron Downey of Chicago, IL, and Kenneth Downey of Norwalk, OH; stepdaughters: Anna Sinchak of Atkin, MN, Paula Downey of Buchanan, and Erica Worke of Niles; brothers: Arden Brown of Buchanan, and Terry (Shawn) Brown of Buchanan; one sister: Judith (Tobin) Bailey of Norton Shores, Ml; 10 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren. Ardelle is preceded in death by her father, Arden Brown, a son, David Mills, and a daughter, Cindy Sue Lindrup. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 8, 2013, from p.m.

at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Hoven Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert Hamilton officiating. Interment to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan.

On Thursday, December 5, 2013 at his home. He was born on August 30, 1929 in Elkhart to the late Robert and Viola (Lytle) Newman. On October 14, 1949 in South Bend he married Viola Simms. Also surviving are 3 daughters, Diana (Jan) Whitaker, Deborah (Albert) Spagnola, and Vicky (Robert) Arnold, 2 sons, Ricky (Donna) Newman and Robert Newman, all of South Bend, 32 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Viola Newman, and his wife Viola Simms.

Jack retired from RV Manufacturing. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, December 8, 201 3 from 3 to 6 pm at the home of his daughter, Diana Whitaker. Elkhart Cremation Services is entrusted with arrangements. This world lost a great and honorable man. Heaven gained one! Jack Newman lived his entire life on this earth with self-sacrificing love that has impacted the lives of family and friends for generations to come.
