Tenderloin To Play In Las Vegas Club LAS VEGAS "Tenderloin, the bawdy, gaudy musical comedy about New York in the 1800s, will open an extended run at the Dunes Hotel here May 18, according to M.

A. Riddle, managing director of the hotel. Fresh from a six-month Broadway run, "Tenderloin has been booked into the Dunes'for a six-week stand with options. The Dunes version of the show will feature the entire Broadway cast except Maurice Evans. With young Ron Husmann (who recent--ly signed an exclusive contract with Capitol) in the lead, the show will be edited down to an hour and 10 minutes from its Broadway running time -of more than two hours.

Bennet Cerf, who in addition to his many other activities is theater critic for New York radio station WNEW, summed up the feelings of most of his colleagues after "Tenderloin opened on Broadway last Oct. 17 by saying: If you want a rousing, romping Broadway musical, here it is for you Tenderloin one of the surest hits thats ever come to town. Capitols original-cast recording of Tenderloin, released the first week in November, is still among the countrys best-selling albums, according to trade-magazine surveys. S. McQueen Looks Over Pic Chances By BOB THOMAS HOLLYWOOD (AP)-Steve McQueen has laid down his shooting iron and is prospecting for movie gold.

Prospects are good. McQueen made fine impressions in Never So Few and The Magnificent Seven, but his film career was stalled by his involvement with Wanted Dead or Alive on TV. Now the series is dead and he can take movie offers, which are many. What killed Wanted Dead or Alive? The trend, says McQueen. The half-hour western is pretty dead now.

Also, he said that the show was pulled out of its comfy1 Saturday night slot and sent to death row on Wednesday. Bounty In Final Stage Of Production On the magical island of Tahiti, often called the last unspoiled place in civilization, Marlon Brando, Trevor Howard and the rest of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayers Mutiny on the Bounty" company are in the last stages of production, after seven months of filming amid the most magnificent scenery to be found anywhere in the world. More than 5,000 Tahitian natives are joining the outstanding cast in enacting the historic story of Fletcher Christian, Captain Bligh and their famous ship, which figured in the celebrated mutiny at sea, 172 years ago. The three-masted Bounty, which MGM built in Nova Scotia, is the largest prop ever used in any film. It sailed to Tahiti, and now is being dispatched to California by producer Aaron Rosenberg and director Lewis Milestone following her starring role in what is certain to be one of most exciting, beautiful and spectacular motion pictures ever WEDNESDAY TIME TABLE WCCO CBS 830 May 10 WLCX 1490 The Preston House bugle band of Ontario, Canada, will be on exhibition at Memorial Field July 9 as the Commanders of La Crosse present their fifth annual Fantasy of Drums and Bugles.

M. J. Kottmer, publicity director for the summer event, said Scout-House are magic words in the United States and Canada. The members of the northern country unit are proud of their attainments, precision trained and high stepping. When the Fantasy was first introduced in the Coulee Region in 1957, a summer storm sent the display indoors to the Mary E.

Sawyer Auditorium. Only about persons saw the excellent show which had the Scout House Marchers as a top performing group. The Canadians took the place by acclamation. Although the financial loss was staggering, Kottmer said, the Commanders wanted to give the Fantasy another chance. Two more years of financial famine followed, but in 1900, a slight profit was shown.

Good weather and the excellent features of Memorial Field combined to give the audience an amazing performance. Drum corps of today, according to Kottmer, no longer are a lot of drums with a few bugles playing a few simple tunes. The music they produce ranges from a cha-cha-cha to Tchaikovsky. A competing unit doesnt merely start at one end of a field and march to the other; but in competition there is first a meticulous examination of personal and instrumental equipment and adornment and then 13 minutes of exacting maneuvering before the 'eagle eye of judges. To date, these groups will be in competition: the Norwood Park Imperials, the Madison Scouts, the Milwaukee Militaires, the Skokie (I1L) Vanguards, the Royal-Airs of Chicago, and the St.

Mathias Cadets of Milwaukee. The Fantasy committee puts in long hours of preparation, too. It secures qualified judges; it lines up housing and food for the 490 visiting corpsmen.
