An autospy is pending to determine cause of death of Raymond C. Shamblin, 61. 1730 Oregon Street. Shamblin's wife, Bessie, a bedridden invalid, told investigators he went to take a bath about noon. When he didn't return and failed to answer her calls to him, she knocked on her bedroom window with a hairbrush to attract the attention of neighbors.

They found him in the tub in a semi-knelling position, with his face under water, the coroner said. It's believed Shamblin, who himself was ill and disabled, may have slipped and. hit his head, knocking himself momentarily unconscious; or he may have suffered a heart attack before slipping into the water, the coroner said.
