He passed away at the age of 83, in the Royal University Hospital, with his tamily at his side. Dad was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Jonn ana Mike; his tatner-in-iaw, Francois Suignard; and two brother-in-laws, Joe and Ray. He is survived by his loving wife Jeanne and two daughters, Celia (John) New ton, and Sherry (Peter) Bomok; ana six qrana daughters. He was bom and raised in the district of Vonda, and while he had, at different points in his life, left Vonda for other parts, he always returned. As a young man, Dad worked on many farms and told wonderful stories of thrashing days.

He also worked in an implement business owned by Manny Foumier for several years. He served Canada tor 4 years overseas during World War II and often shared vivid memories of those days. He was discharged Acting Sergeant of the Ordinance Division. On November 1 1 th he prouaiy wore four medals to the Remembrance Day Ser vice. 45 years ago he mamed Jeanne Sutg nard.

In the early years of the marriage, they managed Co-ops in Blutcner ana in sturgis, When they started a family, they returned to Vonda, where Alex assumed the manage ment of the Vonda Co-op, a position that he maintained for some 27 years. Dunng mat time, he was actively involved in the communi tv in various capacities. He was a councillor, and the fire chief for several years. He enjoyed curling, belonged to the Knights ot Columbus, and at the time of his passing was a proud member of the Aberdeen Legion. While he always worked long days and it often meant lost time with Jeanne and the girts, there were aspects of family lite that were sacred to him.

The time that we spent with dad was some times short, but it was always quality time, and never negotiable. If he made a promise, it was always kept. Sundays were family days and nothing conflicted with that. Alter retirement, he enjoyed friends at coffee row, and a relaxed life style. He had more time to laugh and we all did.

Our memories are of a strong, loving man with a contagious sense of humour. He was a wonderful provider, husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his (ami v. and alwavs warmly remembered. He II always be here in our hearts.
