HEDLE The death of Ernest Ellwood Hed-ley, age 61 years, of Saskatoon, occurred peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul Hospital on Friday, July 13th, 1990. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 16th at 3 30 from the Chapel ot the SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME conducted by Rev N. Stewart Dingwall. Surviving are his loving wife, Yolanda, two sons, Russell (Rhonda) and their children, Ryan and Jason of Melville, Douglas (Valeda) and their son, Steven of Saskatoon; one daughter, Myra (Richard) Roschuk and their children, Tyler and ravis ot Saskatoon; two sisters, Margery Ashman of Las Vegas, Nevada, Irene (Jim) Shout ot Zel-ma, and his father-in-law Jacob Martens of Saskatoon and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Russell on January 11th, 1936; his mother, Georgena on April 1st, 1967, and a brother-in-law, Charles Ashman on February 9th, 1975. Ernest was bom in Saskatoon and lived in Zelma, Sask. until the age of 12, moving to Saskatoon in 1942. He attended Elementary School at Wilson and High School at City Park.

After graduating in 1947 he went to Detroit, Michigan tor five years He returned to Saskatoon where he met and married Yolanda. He worked as a mechanic at P. and as a salesman for vanous other companies, in between he worked for the CNR. Ernest was employed at Cominco Potash as a mining operator from 1974 until his death. His hobby was amateur photography and he was a very active amateur radio operator.

He enjoyed curling and helping friends as well as strangers in need. We, the family, will miss his direction and his love. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens (Courtesy parking south of the Chapel corner of 4th Ave. and 25th VIK Mr Norman Arthur Vik, age 65 years of Nipawm, formerly of Leroy, passed away in St. Paul Hospital, Saskatoon on June 25, 1 990.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife. Leota (Rossiter) of Nipawin; mother-in-law Flossie Rossiter of Saskatoon; daughter Norma (fiance Rob Greer) of Saskatoon; son Ross (Tracy Tisdale) and their sons, Scott, Tyson and Brandon of Grand Centre, Alberta; son Stacey ot Nipawin (girlfriend Carol Lofstrom of Saskatoon); his sisters Anna Ostmoen of Nipawin, Myrtle Lister of Leroy, Gladys (Art) Thoen of Leroy, Clara Bone of Winfield, British Columbia and Doris (Emmett) Arnold ot Regina; and sisters-in-law Myrtle (Charlie) Martin of Saskatoon and Lois (Bill) Martin of Lamgan; and many nieces, nephews and friends ot all ages. He was predeceased by his mother Petra and father Gilbert; tather-in-law Henry Rossiter, and brothers-in-law Don Lister, Russell Bone and Anker Ostmoen Norm was born on July 22, 1924 on the family farm near Bethleham Church at Hawarden, Saskatchewan, the youngest of six children and the only son In 1 933, during his elementary schooling, his family trekked by wagon tram to Leroy, Saskatchewan, where he finished elementary school and completed high school by correspondence. He farmed the family farm as well as land of his own after his father's death when Norm was twenty-one and he later owned a construction business. On July 16, 1952, he married Leota Ruth Rossiter, also of Leroy, where they built their first home, had their family and were active in Kinsmen and Ki-nettes.

In 1962, they moved to Nipawin where Norm ran a marine business and later diversified into beekeeping, finally returning to construction that resulted in a business well-known throughout the Nipawin area He taught himself to play his first guitar by ear as a teenager, and was a member of a Nipawin band that played throughout northern Saskatchewan. He joined the Nipawin Lions Club in 1969 and remained an active member despite failing health, recording many of their events on video. Norm was an ardent outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and capturing nature on film He spent manyhours reading books of the past and the north country and also pursued his love ot nature in gardening, woodworking, and building a cabin on Tobin Lake He actively participated in the remodelling of the Nipawin United Church and later served on its Administration and Manse Committees Many joyful hours were spent with his grandsons, the lights ot his life, as well as his family, relatives, and many triends The Funeral Service was held at Nipawin United Church on Saturday, June 30, 1 990 Reverend Karen Mitchell officiating Active Pallbearers were Gerald Thoen, Brian Thoen, Wayne Thoen, Rhett Martin, Randy Marlin, and Rahn Marlin. Ushers were Lome Kolisnek and Ken Martin.
