PICKETT God called Gordon home on Tuesday, February 1 2000 at the age of 57. God chose to come for Gord while he was at home his beloved wife. His death was quick and pray, fairly painless. Gordon was born In Biggar, SK on December 16, 1942. He is survived by his cherished wife, Sylvie Francoeur; loving daughter, Rhonda Pickett (Jeff); two brothers, Patrick (Linda) Pickett and Brian (Diana) Pickett; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Among the treasures whom Gord leaves behind are five wonderful grandchildren, Tayler Pickett (Rhondd Pickett), Daena Shane and Spencer Boyenko (Rick and Gina Boyenko, son to Sylvie); Matthew and Sarah Lyn Boyenko, (James and Patty Boyenko, son Sylvie). There wasn't a day that went by without Gord talking about these special munchklns. They loved Granpda Gord so much and he loved them, Gord was predeceased by his parents, William and Jean; two brothers, Johnny and Billy; and a nephew, Darren. Gord received his education In Saskatoon, spent many years in the military and was member of the paratroopers. Gord's life wds celebration of happiness, generosity and love; love for his family, love for his fellowmen.

love of community and his newly found love of Christ. When it came to service, the word "no" did not exist in his vocabulory. Gord volunteered his time for the Jazz Festival, Louis Riel Day, Folkfest, Prairieland Exhibition, River Roar, Canada Games, the Brier and many more, Gord wds a fdlthful member of the Knights of Columbus and rejoiced In the joys and successes of his parish, Wherever anyone needed help, Gord was there. If something needed fixing, Gord was there to fix it. Gora was known and loved by many and he will be greatly missed.

The city of Saskatoon has lost one of its most caring and involved citizens but the kingdom of God hds gained a fervent and diligent volunteer. He must surely have already signed up to help on at least a couple of committees Gord also took great pride in his home and in his yard. There was never a lack of energies to spend on the beloved chores associated with the care of this mini-paradise. Gord's wife and family invite you to celebrate his life at a redemption celebration on Saturday, February 2000 at 10:30 a.m. at St.

There his teacher, Jake Thiessen, introduced Erv to the world of literature and learning and Erv carried this love throughout his life. His fellow students at New Steinbach voted Erv their most cheerful student, and cheerfulness typified his life, At the ripe age of 19, Erv was a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse and had a series of teaching positions over the next five years.

At one of these, Gumbo Flat School near Tullis, SK, Erv met the love of his life and soulmate, Velva Skinner, Erv and Vel married in Saskatoon on December 23, 1952 arid had four doughters, Wendy, Patricia, Sandra and Heather. After Wendy's birth, Erv began a career in financial services that spanned 47 years, Erv loved his work becouse it allowed him to do what he enjoyed most: visit with old friends and make new ones. Besides managing a busy professional life, Erv pursued many other interests. He travelled widely: from Australia, to Africa, to Bermuda, to the Russian steppes. Every summer and during winter vacations, he delighted in golfing with Vel and their friends.

Always health conscious, he was a runner, cross-country skier, and cyclist, He shared with all who knew him his enthusiasm for movies, music and song, books, poetry, theatre, good food, and conversdtion. Erv worked hdrd and he played hard. His favorite retreat was the cabin at Jackfish Lake, a place full of love, laughter and joy for him and his family. Whatever the weather on Victoria Day Erv was the first one in the water. Erv was a re markable and loving father.

Whether he was taking his daughters and all their friends to Sat-urday matinees at the Broadway, leading them on nature hikes, enthralling them with hilarious adventure stories, or teaching them to swim or ride their bikes, he devoted time to all his girls and made edch one feel speciol. As the years passed, he brought the same fun and affection to the lives of nieces, nephews and grandchildren. His generosity went beyond the bounds of his family to embrace friends, associates, clients and the community, supporting many with his boundless optimism and cheer. He left this world as he lived, full of energy, love and hope. He loved his family, his friends, and God and worked and played up to the day of his final and very brief illness.

He died with his beloved wife and family at his side. It Is very difficult to believe someone so vital, so loving, and so strong is gone. Ervin was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Henry; his brother, Walter: and brothers-in-law, Peter Wiebe, Charlie and Lome Skinner; and sisters-in-law, Joy Surgeson and Doris Skinner. Left to remember ana mourn him are his wife, Velva Sawatzky, daughter, Wendy (Greg) Crawford and grandchildren, Ben and Megan; daughter, Patricia (John) Puderak and grandchildren, Andrew, Emma, Shelley and Randy; daughter, Sandra (Brad) Cdriou and grand child, Lucy; daughter. Heather (Ken) Gevertz and grandchildren, Rachel and Joshua; siblings, Bertha Wiebe.

Mary (John) Wiebe, Arthur (Kathy) Sawatzky, Harley Stanwood, Mabel (Bill) Allan; sisters-in-law, Juanita Skinner, Amy Sawatzky; brothers-in-law, Jack (Esme) Skinner and Victor Skinner; and numerous and beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews dnd a host of wonderful and dear friends. Family will host a celebration of Ervin's life on Saturday, February 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Acadia Drive Funeral Chapel in Saskatoon. Interment is at Aberdeen Cemetery, and is followed by a luncheon at Aberdeen Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, we ask that friends and family make Memorial donations to Briercrest Family of Schools at Caron-port, SK or the University of Saskatchewan.

The color and texture which you have brought into my being have become a song and I want to sing It forever. There is an energy In us which makes things happen when the paths of other persons touch ours and we have to be there and let it happen. When the time of our particular sunset comes our thing our accomplishment won't really matter a great deal. But the clarity and care with which we have loved others will speak with vitality of the great gift of life we have been for each other. Gregory Norbet, O.S.B.
