Funeral Services were held on Thursday, February 1, 2001 In Patuanak, SK. As a family, we would like to say thank you all for helping us say good-bye to our brother, son, father, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend. Jim, as he was known by all, has finished his journey on this earth and now we celebrate his next journey. Jim was born In lle-a-la-Crosse on October 18, 1958 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Right from birth he was an enigma to Mom and Dad and later to his siblings. When Maurice came along, he found a playmate for life. These two enjoyed each other's company so much that even Jacy was a hindrance, as she used to cry to get her way. How do we know Mom and Dad used to call them Mo-Jim" because they were constantly getting into trouble, During this stage Jim also developed a habit of pleasing people. He used to clean Dad's skiffs when done fishing, and he would do it until he got Dad's approval.

As with most of us here, Jim got his elementary and high school education at Beauval. Jim began Implementing his survival skills by working at various jobs and yet somehow always managing to still maintain contact with the family. His sense of belonging was very strong, because when he returned home, he would make his rounds of visiting to his relatives and friends, and as usual ready to offer a helping hand. At this stage, Raymond recalls of how Jim had chosen a life that was hard and lonely. This sadness was often felt by everyone around him.

On the other hand, it was on these occasional visits that we observed the love and resect he had for his siblings and their children, ur brother had the gift of laughter. He was eager to laugh and tell jokes to make people laugh and be happy. He was very kind and compassionate. His love was endless. Jim may not have had all of life's materialistic goods, but we knew he was rich In other ways, His strong sense of roots and family bonds was demonstrated by the fact that he would al ways try to communicate to his nieces and nephews In the Dene language.

He always spoke to us siblings In our language, because we knew he was proud to be Dene and Dene was always his first language, His many duck hunting trips, rabbit snaring in the winter, and his enjoyment out on the lake and woods was his testimony to us that he belonged to all of us. They say good people die young and Jim had a very loud message for all of us during short life. Sometimes we misunderstood Jim by his absenteeism, but yet others saw him for what he was. Mike Garcelon observes of how proud Jim was of his culture, his roots, and his heritage. Others had difficulty with this but Jim wore this like a medal.

Mike also noted that Jim would be gone for months and one day would show up and continue his dialogue from where he had left off from the last visit. He has this amazing connection with his nieces and nephews. We love you and miss you, We will forever treasure your memory. The Gift The most precious gift I am told Is all the love A heart can hold I give It to you You give It to me There Is enough for the world And the gift is free Will you take my love More precious than gold It's the finest gift That the heart can hold BAERG We were privileged to have a wonderful Mother. It Is only fitting that she live her final days In the Saskatoon Convalescent Home where she used to volunteer. Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that lean show to any human being, let me do it now, Let me not deter or neglect It, tor I shall not pass this way The family will host a celebration of Susan's life on Monday, February 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the Acadia Drive Funeral Chapel (915 Acadia Dr, Saskatoon).
